Henrique de Senna Fernandes Academic Prize for the Best Portuguese Thesis (AY2023/2024)

Henrique de Senna Fernandes Academic Prize for the Best Portuguese Thesis (hereinafter, “the Prize”) is established to award outstanding UM post-graduate theses from Department of Portuguese and Faculty of Law. Named after the late Dr. Heneique de Senna Fernandes in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contribution in law, cultural education and literature in Macao, the Prize aims to encourage students to devote themselves in the study and research in Portuguese and enhance the quality of graduates’ theses.

This call for thesis submission targets graduation theses of Master or PhD. students from Department of Portuguese (DPT) and Faculty of Law (FLL), which were written in Portuguese and the oral defense completed in Academic Year 2023/2024.

Interested students and graduates are welcome to submit their graduation thesis to run for the Prize. Please refer to the sections below for more details and method of submission.

Eligibility

  • Postgraduate thesis (Master or PhD.) of Department of Portuguese, Faculty of Arts and Humanities (DPORT) or
    Faculty of Law (FLL)
  • The thesis must be written in Portuguese
  • Oral defense must be completed in Academic Year 2023/2024

Quota & Content of Award

This call for application confers two Prize quotas, one each for Department of Portuguese and Faculty of Law.

The submissions will be assessed by a Selection Committee chaired by Vice-Rector (Global Affairs) and composed by representatives from Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Faculty of Law.

Awardees will be granted a Prize at the amount of MOP10,000, and will be invited to a prize conferment ceremony to be held in UM in late 2024.

How to Submit?

  1. Download and fill in the Thesis Submission Form (please fill in Section I and print the Form, and sign in Section II by hand)
  2. Compose an e-mail with the title “Submission of Thesis for Henrique de Senna Fernandes Academic Prize for the Best Portuguese Thesis”, attach a scanned copy of the duly completed form and an electronic copy of the graduation thesis, and send the email to gao.enquiry@um.edu.mo, at or before 23:59, 31 July 2024 (GMT+8).

Note: Late or incomplete submission will not be considered. It is advised to submit the application as early as possible to avoid failed submission due to network problem.
