Lecture Abstract
Prof. Wang will examine the contemporary trends of daily life and popular culture in urban China through the leisure activities of playing mahjong. Nowadays, it can be seen that the system of market economy in China is gradually integrating with traditional lifestyles. However, residents still have various puzzles about life and are exploring the most appropriate way of life in modern society. These changes are reflected in various aspects such as politics, economy, society, and culture. This traditional entertainment conflicts with the rights of individuals and the interests of the collective. The lecture will focus on the topic of Mahjong and analyze this phenomenon in society.
