[FED] The 16th Forum on the History of Education across the Strait and in the Hong Kong and Macau Areas Successfully Held at the University of Macau
[教育學院] 第十六屆海峽兩岸暨港澳地區教育史論壇在澳門大學圓滿舉行
The 16th Forum on the History of Education across the Strait and in the Hong Kong and Macau Areas, organized by the Centre for Language Education of the Faculty of Education of the University of Macau, co-organized by the Centre for Macau Studies of the University of Macau and Macao Association for Historical Education was successfully held from October 24 to 26, 2025. The forum brought together over ninety experts and scholars from leading universities and research institutions across the Strait and in the Hong Kong and Macau areas. They engaged in in-depth academic exchanges on topics including the historical context of education, institutional reforms, intellectual heritage, and future development.
The opening ceremony took place on the morning of October 25 at the Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak Lecture Hall in the Anthony Lau Building at the University of Macau. The distinguished guests included Dr. Chi Meng KONG, Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau. Prof. Wei GE, Vice Rector (Research) and Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean and Director of Centre for STEM and AI Education of the Faculty of Education of the University of Macau. First of all, Prof. Ge delivered the welcome speech. He extended a warm welcome to the attending scholars, highlighting the forum as a significant academic event in the field of educational history. He emphasized its role as a high-level platform for scholars to deepen their collective understanding and cooperation regarding the history of regional educational development. Prof. Ge expressed his hope that the forum would inspire new research ideas and continue the academic legacy, collectively advancing the study of Chinese educational history.
Following that, Prof. Fan delivered his remarks. He stressed that studying the history of education is a vital way to understand the present and enlighten the future. He pointed out that Macau, with its unique history of cultural exchange between the East and West over centuries, offers a rich subject for in-depth research into its educational development. He expressed the Faculty of Education’s honor in hosting the forum and hoped it would foster profound dialogue among scholars, exploring the valuable experiences and wisdom from educational history to provide historical insights for contemporary educational reform. Afterwards, the organizer presented souvenirs to Director Kong and the scholars who delivered keynote speeches to express their gratitude.
After the opening ceremony, the keynote session commenced, chaired by Prof. Yang GONG, Programme Coordinator of Bachelor of Education Programme (Chinese) and Subject Convenor of Master Philosophy in Education (Chinese Education). Prof. Gang DING from East China Normal University gave a presentation titled “The Inheritance, Transformation, and Cultural Mission of China’s Aesthetic Education Tradition.” Subsequently, a number of distinguished scholars delivered insightful speeches. These included Prof. Tiehua QU of Northeast Normal University, Prof. Yuwen CHOU of National Taiwan Normal University, Prof. Banghua SUN of Beijing Normal University, Prof. Yaqun ZHANG of Xiamen University, Prof. Haifeng LIU of Zhejiang University, and Mr. Sek Kit CHEANG, Head of the Department of Curriculum Development and Assessment of the Education and Youth Development Bureau. Their presentations covered key topics such as rural education during the Republican era, educational changes amid significant political shifts from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republican period, experiments in education for the common people, the late Qing examination system, and the evolution of Macau’s education policies. The keynote speeches were met with enthusiastic feedback and sparked deep reflection among attendees.
On the afternoon of October 25 and the morning of October 26, the forum proceeded with parallel sessions held at the Faculty of Education of the University of Macau. The four sessions covered a broad spectrum of topics, including the evolution of teacher ethics governance in New China, modern interpretations of classical educational thought, reforms and reflections on the modern education system, and a historical examination of educational exchanges between China and other countries. The sessions, which brought together both emerging and senior scholars, featured presentations on the latest research, from macro-level policy changes to micro-level case studies, and from the exploration of traditional educational wisdom to responses to contemporary educational challenges, all contributing to a vibrant academic atmosphere.
Following the parallel sessions, the closing ceremony was held at the Tin Ka Ping Lecture Hall in the Faculty of Education. Prof. Chun Wai CHENG, the Chair of the forum provided a comprehensive summary of the two-day academic discussions. He highly praised the scholarly level and organization of the forum, noting that the presentations fully demonstrated the depth and vitality of research in the history of education. Finally, Prof. Chen WANG, representing the host of the next forum, delivered a closing address, sincerely inviting all scholars to reconvene in Beijing for the next event in the Autumn 2026.
The three-day forum concluded with warm applause. The total number of participants exceeded 130. Participants widely agreed that the forum was not only an academic feast but also a valuable opportunity to strengthen scholarly friendships and build consensus within the academic community. There was a unanimous sentiment that reflecting on history is essential for paving a better way forward, and the success of this forum is expected to have a profound impact on promoting the continued prosperity and innovative development of research in the history of education across the Strait and in the Hong Kong and Macau areas.

由澳門大學教育學院語言教育中心主辦、澳門大學澳門研究中心和澳門歷史教育學會協辦的第十六屆海峽兩岸暨港澳地區教育史論壇於2025年10月24日至26日在澳門大學順利舉行。本屆論壇匯聚了來自海峽兩岸暨港澳地區多所頂尖高校與研究機構的九十餘位專家學者,共同圍繞教育歷史脈絡、制度變革、思想傳承與未來發展等議題展開深入的學術交流與探討。論壇開幕式於10月25日上午在澳門大學劉少榮樓劉佐德伉儷演講廳隆重舉行。出席開幕式的主禮嘉賓包括:教育及青年發展局局長龔志明博士,澳門大學副校長(研究)葛偉教授,澳門大學教育學院院長兼科技與人工智能教育中心主任范良火教授 。開幕式上,首先由葛偉副校長致歡迎辭。他代表澳門大學向遠道而來的各位專家學者表示熱烈歡迎,並指出本論壇作為教育史學領域的重要學術盛會,為各地學者提供了一個高水平的交流平台,有助於深化學界對區域教育發展歷史的共同理解與合作。他期望本次論壇能激發新的研究思路,傳承學術薪火,共同推動中華教育史研究邁向新的高峰。接著,范良火院長致辭,他代表主辦單位教育學院發言,強調教育史研究是鑒古知今、啟迪未來的重要途徑。他指出,澳門作為數百年來東西方文化交融的獨特範例,其教育發展歷程本身就是一個值得深入挖掘的寶庫。他表示,教育學院非常榮幸能夠承辦本屆論壇,並期望能藉此平台,促進各地學者間的深度對話,共同探索教育歷史中的寶貴經驗與智慧,為當代教育改革與發展提供歷史鏡鑒。隨後,主辦方首先向出席活動的龔志明局長,以及發表主題報告的學者致送紀念品,以表謝忱。
開幕式後,大會進入主題報告環節,主持人為教育學院教育學士學位(中文)課程統籌人及哲學碩士學位 (教育學—中文教育)召集人龔陽教授。華東師範大學丁鋼教授以《中國美育傳統的承繼與轉化及其文化使命》為題,深入剖析了中國美育的歷史淵源與當代價值。隨後,東北師範大學曲鐵華教授、台灣師範大學周愚文教授、北京師範大學孫邦華教授、廈門大學張亞群教授、浙江大學劉海峰教授等多位資深學者,以及教育及青年發展局課程發展及評核處鄭錫杰處長,分別就民國時期鄉村教育、晚清至民國早期政治巨變下的教育變革、平民教育和鄉村建設實驗區、晚清考試制度、高等教育史與大學校史研究的關聯互動,以及澳門教育政策的變革與機遇等關鍵議題發表了精彩演講。報告內容高屋建瓴,引發了與會學者的熱烈反響與深入思考。
25日下午及26日上午,大會轉入分組報告環節。與會學者分為四個會場,在澳門大學教育學院同步展開研討。各分會場的議題涵蓋廣泛,包括新中國師德治理的演進、古典教育思想的現代詮釋、近代教育制度的變革與反思、中外教育交流的歷史考察等多個領域。從宏觀的政策演變到微觀的個案研究,從傳統教育智慧的發掘到當代教育挑戰的回應,青年學者與資深專家齊聚一堂,分享最新研究成果,進行了富有成效的對話與碰撞,學術氣氛濃厚。
分組報告結束後,隨即在教育學院田家炳演講廳舉行論壇閉幕式。論壇籌備委員會主席鄭振偉教授對為期兩天的學術研討進行了全面回顧與總結。他高度評價了本屆論壇的學術水平與組織工作,認為學者們的報告充分展現了教育史研究的深度與活力。最後,北京師範大學教育歷史與文化研究院院長王晨教授代表下屆論壇主辦方致辭,誠摯邀請各位學者明年金秋在北京再聚。
為期三天的論壇在熱烈的掌聲中圓滿落幕,總參與人數超過130人。與會者紛紛表示,本屆論壇不僅是一次學術思想的盛宴,更是一次增進學術友誼、凝聚學界共識的寶貴機會。大家一致認為,回顧歷史是為了更好地走向未來,本次論壇的成功舉辦,必將對推動海峽兩岸暨港澳地區教育史研究的持續繁榮與創新發展產生深遠影響。
