Celebrate, Learn, and Share the Spirit of Thanksgiving!
Dive into the rich history and cultural traditions surrounding this seasonal celebration in the United States. Through active participation in planning and organizing a Thanksgiving-themed event, you will gain a deeper understanding of the holiday’s origins, food customs, and festive practices. The workshop culminates in a Thanksgiving party, where students will invite peers to share in the experience.
- Learn about the history and origins of Thanksgiving
- Plan and organize a Thanksgiving party
- Understand the food culture and related activities
- Identify traditional foods served at Thanksgiving events
- Explain the symbolic meaning of each dish
- Taste pumpkin pie and mashed potatoes in a venue decorated with a festive Thanksgiving theme
Why Thanksgiving?
Celebrated in the U.S. and Canada, Thanksgiving honors the harvest and blessings of the past year. The American tradition traces back to a 1621 feast shared by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people. Today, it’s a time for family, food, and reflection.
