Under the accord, both institutions will deepen archival and cultural exchanges between Zhuhai and Macao in support of the country’s Belt and Road Initiative, jointly injecting fresh momentum into the building of a “Humanistic Bay Area”.
Guided by the principles of “equality and mutual benefit, complementary strengths, and collaborative innovation, and shared results”, the partners will focus on the discovery, preservation, study and utilization of precious historical records and create a long-term cooperation mechanism that advances both the inheritance and the innovation of Xiangshan culture. The collaboration focuses on three key areas: (1) Build a Xiangshan-Bay Area historical and cultural resource-sharing platform to tell “Xiangshan stories” and “Bay Area stories” together; (2) establish a “Zhuhai-Macau Historical Research Special Project” to provide academic support for the two cities’ integrated development; (3) strengthen exchanges on archival informatics and preservation technology, jointly exploring deep applications of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies in the archives field.
