On December 17, 2025, the English Language Centre (ELC) held an award ceremony for the “i-Learner English for Universities Marathon Competition” to acknowledge the most committed and high-performing participants.
This semester has witnessed a boost in lesson completion, which doubled the amount comparing to the last semester, with 26, 405 lessons collectively completed by the students. The impressive increase highlights students’ willingness to go the extra mile and engage in independent English learning. Among these participants, over 1005 students completed at least 12 lessons, and 415 students surpassed 24 lessons—which shows their exceptional commitment and focus.
Students also actively engage in the writing component as well, producing 20,619 pieces during the competition period. Notably, 868 students completed at least 12 compositions, while 247 students reached the milestone of 24 pieces. These results highlight students’ increasing enthusiasm for developing their writing skills and their commitment to strengthening their English proficiency.
At the heart of the competition, the i-Learner platform remains key to the ELC’s efforts to help students thrive in English-medium university studies. With its interactive and flexible learning environment, it inspires learners to strengthen their language skills, think critically, and extend their learning beyond the classroom.

Prof. Andrew Moody, Director of the English Language Centre, opened the ceremony with his experience of running Marathons to acknowledge students’ resilience and hard work in consistently practising English. Afterwards, certificates and prizes were presented to outstanding performers whose achievements showcased both effort and excellence.
