Dear colleagues and students,
The University of Macau’s (UM) Cultural Building is an important vehicle for the promotion of Chinese culture and is home to the Macao Base for Primary & Secondary Education in Humanities & Social Sciences. In the Feature Story column of this issue’s My UM, we explore the base’s abundant learning opportunities for primary and secondary school students, demonstrating how it cultivates a deep appreciation for the humanities in the students, as well as how it advance basic humanities and social sciences education in Macao by leveraging the university’s extensive academic resources and collaborating with other educational institutions (Click here for the article and the video).
In the People’s Story column, we present an exclusive interview with Wang Di, chair professor in the Department of History of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, on how reading has shaped his life and academic career. Prof Wang has a voracious appetite for reading, spanning professional books, leisure books, and e-books. He has also published numerous articles and books. Two new books published by him, namely Small Voice of History and Amazing Everyday Successes: Chinese Society and People under Microhistory, have attracted considerable attention. In our engaging interview, he shares with us valuable insights into his research and writing journey (Click here for the article).
Thank you for your support!
