On Wednesday, 29 April 2026, Stanley Ho East Asia College (SHEAC) at the University of Macau organised the “Long Table Lunch: Conversations with Professors on Career Planning” at the W31 Dining Hall. At the invitation of College Master Prof. Kathy Luo, 13 professors from diverse academic fields with extensive international experience, alongside the College’s academic staff, gathered with approximately 50 students. In a relaxed and pleasant buffet lunch atmosphere, participants engaged in in-depth exchanges regarding academic growth and future career development.
The event commenced with opening remarks from Prof. Luo, who inspired students to seize this opportunity to seek advice from professors with rich backgrounds and global perspectives. She emphasised that these professors, hailing from various regions of the world and specialising in diverse disciplines, possess a wealth of life experience that serves as a valuable compass for students currently in the stages of career exploration or uncertainty.
Conducted in an informal buffet style, the lunch was designed to bridge the gap between faculty and students. Throughout the event, professors shared their academic journeys, career turning points, and insights into current employment trends. Students proactively raised questions on topics such as major selection, postgraduate strategies, and internship planning. The hall was filled with laughter and vibrant discussion, allowing academic wisdom and life experiences to be passed on naturally over a shared meal.
This lunch event not only strengthened the bonds between staff and students but also instilled confidence in students regarding their academic and career planning. SHEAC will continue to host such exchange activities, aiming to broaden students’ international horizons and help them plan their futures with greater confidence and foresight.
