Dear colleagues and students,

The University of Macau has been expanding its collaborations with universities around the world in areas such as academic research and exchanges, student exchange programmes, and talent development programmes. In the Feature Story column of this issue’s My UM, we explore how these collaborations enhance the understanding of diverse cultures within the UM community and among its international counterparts, catalyse research advancements across multiple fields, and foster a more comprehensive global perspective (Click here for the article).

In the People’s Story column, we feature an exclusive interview with Fiona Yang Xi, assistant professor in the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management and the recipient of the UM Teaching Excellence Award in the 2022/2023 academic year. Prof Yang discusses how she incorporates the concept of ‘experience management’ in the service industry into her teaching. In her classes, Prof Yang primarily focuses on imparting knowledge to her students while enhancing classroom interaction and student satisfaction, all with the aim of creating a positive learning environment (Click here for the article).
