As informed by the Cybersecurity Incident Alert and Response Centre (CARIC), in order to prevent hackers from tampering the outdoor or indoor digital displays, and publish content that could affect social stability or contain inaccurate information, below are some suggestions to strengthen the security measures for the displays and related network IT devices:

1. Inspect comprehensively and monitor regularly the cybersecurity status of the relevant devices to eliminate any possible security risks:
   • Take appropriate physical security measures;
   • Prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing the display devices;
2. Install security patches for operating systems and application software in a timely manner:
   • Regularly update the operating systems, application software, and related components to patch known vulnerabilities;
   • Pay attention to the security updates from manufactures and suppliers, and promptly apply the security updates and patches released by them;
3. Limit external inputs:
   • Restrict external input sources to prevent unauthorized content from being displayed;
4. Implement account security measures, including strong passwords and restrictions on number of login failure attempts, etc:
   • Enforce strict permission management controls and grant necessary access privileges only to authorized personnel;
   • Regularly review and update permissions to ensure that only relevant personnel can access to critical systems;
5. Install and regularly update antivirus software.
