We are pleased to announce the opening of 2nd call for applications (student mobility) regarding the Erasmus+ “Mobile22” Project.

The Erasmus+ programme aims to boost skills and employability, as well as modernising Education, Training, and Youth work.

Coordinated by the University of Porto, Portugal, the MOBILE22 Project, approved in August 2022 and financially supported by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Programme, aims at fostering the mutual enrichment and a better understanding between Portugal and specifically 71* partner countries, through student, academic and administrative staff mobility.

This call for application will provide 1 outgoing student scholarship quota (for UM student to undertake mobility in University of Porto). The length of mobility is 4 months and the mobility will start in September 2024.

About the MOBILE22 Project

The MOBILE22 Project runs from 2022 to July 2025 to provide funded mobility opportunity for staff and students.

This 2nd application call provides UM with one student scholarship quota for a 4-month exchange (credit seeking) in University of Porto. The scholarship can be used to join a semester exchange that begins in September 2024*.

*The quota offered to UM students in this call is only applicable for credit-seeking exchange starting in September 2024.

 

Costs & Financial Support

The successful applicant will be entitled to 1) Travel subsidy, and 2) Subsistence (Monthly Stipend).

The applicant will need to bear all the costs incurred by the mobility, including but not limited to:

  • round-trip air-ticket and/or other travel expenses
  • accommodation
  • visa (if necessary)
  • personal insurance
  • other personal travel and living expenses

Please note that the financial support will only be granted after their arrival at the host institution. Applicants must be prepared to pay for the travel, accommodation, and other relevant expenses in advance.

Please also note that applicant who receives the Erasmus+ financial support is NOT eligible for other subsidies or sponsorship, such as the Outgoing Exchange Scholarship provided by GAO.

Between 2000 and 2999 km 360 EUR per participant
Between 3000 and 3999 km 530 EUR per participant
Between 4000 and 7999 km 820 EUR per participant
8000 km or more 1500 EUR per participant

Important Information: the “travel distance” represents the linear distance between the city where the university of origin and the city where the host university are located. This is calculated automatically by a website indicated by the European Commission and cannot be subject to any change. The financial support allocated to the “travel distance” is the maximum allowed by the Erasmus+ Programme and is intended to contribute to the round trip back between the home and host institutions. In the event that the assigned value is insufficient to pay for the desired trip, the scholarship holder must find another sources of funding.

 

Subsistence (Monthly Stipend)

Mobility Type: STUDENTS mobility (Studies – SMS)

Mobility period: 4 months, starting in September 2024

Application and Information

Students are required to finish two steps for the application:

(1) Submission of application on MOBILE22 Portal [Deadline: 23:59, 6 December 2023]

Interested students are asked to visit the Mobile22 Project website to access the application portal and learn more details about the mobility.

Please read and observe the Guidelines for applicants for Mobile22 (2nd Call) carefully for the instructions and list of required documents.

***Please note that the application procedures are to be handled by the applicants themselves***

 

(2) Submission of Learning Agreement to Global Affairs Office [Deadline: 23:59, 10 December 2023]

Students are required to submit a draft Learning Agreement (no signature required at this stage) to gao.enquiry@um.edu.mo, as an attachment to an e-mail with the title format as “Application for MOBILE22 Student Mobility_(Student Number)_(Full Name)”.

Please note that UM will not validate your application on the MOBILE22 Portal if you have not submitted the draft Learning Agreement.

 

Important Reminders

  1. The final decision of acceptance and granting the Erasmus+ scholarship will be made by University of Porto. Such decision will be considered final. Applicants must respect the selection results.
  2. Applicants of the Erasmus+ Programme are bound by the UM Rules for Semester-based Outgoing Exchange Programmes and Guidelines for applicants for Mobile22 (2nd Call)Please read the documents carefully, and observe the rules and guidelines governing the application, granting of Erasmus+ scholarship, and other important tips and reminders.
  3. For Master or PhD. students, consent from your supervisor  should also be sought before accepting the offer (if applicable).
  4. Applicants are obliged to seek courses that match their UM study plan and consult the programme coordinator of their faculty on the credit transfer-ability.
  5. Successful applicants who have accepted the scholarship offer are not allowed to withdraw without ample justification. All withdrawal will be recorded and such record will be considered in the evaluation of other activities and scholarships at UM. Not being able to find courses for credit transfer does not constitute an ample justification.
  6. University of Porto reserves the right to suspend, alter or cancel the mobility at their discretion. Applicants are responsible and will bare any costs and/or monetary losses, if any.
  7. Successful applicants who have finished the mobility will be invited by the Global Affairs Office for photo and experience sharing .
