Abstract:

This lecture reviews and reflects on the first fieldwork in Russia using “Going Deep” as a clue. “Going deep” is the most profound feelings during this fieldwork. To do a good job in fieldwork, one must not only go into the depths of the space where the fieldwork is conducted, but also go into the depths of time and pay attention to the local history as well as the reporter’s life history, and what’s even more rare is to reach the depths of people’s soul. “Going deep” requires ethnographers to have the “talent of communication” and the “talent of adaptation.” It is in the interaction and mutual adaptation with field sites and local people that ethnographers complete the process of entering, integrating and exploring deep into the field.

本次講座以“走向深處”為線索，回顧和反思第一次在俄羅斯的田野調查經歷。走向深處是在這次田野調查中最深的體悟，要做好田野調查，不僅要走進田野調查地這個空間的深處，還要走進時間的深處，關注田野點的地方史和報導人的生命史，更為難得的是走進當地人心靈的深處。“走向深處”需要民族誌學者具有“交往的天賦”和“適應的天賦”，民族誌學者正是在與田野點和當地人彼此交往和相互適應的過程中，完成了從進入、融入到深入田野的過程。
