Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College Valedictory Dinner: Dr. Ian Fok Encouraged Graduates to Grasp New Opportunities Presented by the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
霍英東珍禧書院結業晚宴 霍震寰勉畢業生放眼灣區把握發展新機遇
澳門大學霍英東珍禧書院於2024年4月12日舉行2023/2024學年結業晚宴。澳門霍英東基金會霍震寰主席、史濠總幹事及澳門大學校董會林金城主席應邀出席活動。
霍英東珍禧書院莫啓明代院長於開幕致辭中提及,在過去一年中,有賴全體師生的共同努力,書院在不同範疇都取得了豐碩的成果。為了持續推動愛國愛澳教育,書院家國情懷小組將繼續舉辦國家安全、兩法及愛國主題活動,以增強院生文化自信及加深國家認同感。
澳門霍英東基金會霍震寰主席表示,霍英東基金會成立以來一直延續及傳承霍英東先生愛國愛澳愛港、取諸社會、用諸社會的精神,在內地及港澳的教育、醫療、文化、體育及公益事業多方面作出貢獻。霍主席談到今屆畢業生的大學生涯歷經新冠疫情,在不平坦的日子裡,收獲了不平凡的成長。畢業後要以在書院及大學裡獲得的知識及經驗,加上堅定的信念來應對各種變化及面對不同的挑戰。同時,霍主席鼓勵學生擴闊眼界,隨著大灣區城市對澳政策的放寬和完善,要懂得發掘和善用大灣區各城市的發展資源,踏上更廣闊的舞台,成就更宏大的夢想。
畢業生代表李俊姍同學發言時感謝書院對每位院生的教導與栽培,使他們在充滿關愛的環境中成長。將來充滿未知之數,但在書院累積的一點一滴,都是大家奮發向前的強大後盾,即使路途崎嶇,亦能堅定步伐,勇往直前。
晚宴上進行了簡單而隆重的院生會換屆交接儀式,對即將卸任的院生會領袖的用心與付出作出肯定,同時期望下屆院生會延續優良傳統,肩負使命,以滿腔的熱誠為書院為同學服務。隨後,舉行獎項頒發環節,嘉賓向四位院生分別頒發了書院榮譽獎、書院服務獎、書院領導力獎及書院參與獎,以嘉許院生對書院的貢獻。另外有三位畢業生獲得了學術進步獎。晚宴期間,樂團成員輪流獻藝,帶來了精彩的弦樂演奏。最後,結業晚宴在一片歡聲笑語中圓滿結束。
Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College has successful held its Valedictory High Table Dinner at the College Refectory on 12 April 2024. Honorable guests included Dr. Ian Fok Chun-wan, Chairman of the Henry Fok Foundation, Mr. Si Hou, Director-General of Henry Fok Foundation, and Dr. Peter Lam, Chair of the University Council, college fellows and faculty affiliates were invited to the Dinner.
Interim College Master Prof. Mok Kai Meng delivered an opening remark and took the opportunity to express his gratitude to all College members for their contributions to the community last year and achieved remarkable results in various areas. He encouraged the College’s working groups to continuously organized activities related to national security, “The Two Laws” and other patriotism activities to enhance the sense of national identity of the College member and nurture their patriotism towards our Country.
In his speech, Dr. Ian Fok, Chairman of the Henry Fok Macau Foundation, said that the Foundation is founded by his late father Dr. Henry Fok Ying Tung, who supported development in education, healthcare, culture, sports, and public welfare in China, Hong Kong and Macau. He also mentioned that this batch of graduating students had overcome extraordinary circumstances and faced different challenges because of the COVID pandemic and finally and arrived as a graduate. They should be prepared to face the challenges ahead and aimed to achieve greatness with the knowledge they acquired in the University and College. At the same time, Dr. Fok encouraged the graduating students to look farther ahead to tap the new opportunities presented by the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which is a key development strategy of the Country and opening up in the new era and providing young people with a new pathway for employment and career development.
The representative of the graduates, Ms. Iris Li, in her speech, specially thanked all the College mentors, members and teachers for their love, care and teachings during the four years of her university life. Although the future is filled with uncertainties and changes, the experience, knowledge and friendship that she gained in the College will definitely become her strong support in life.
The speech was followed by the handover ceremony of the current and the new House Association Executive teams. Special thanks were given to the current House Association members who served the College community with great passion and devotion. At the award ceremony session, the College also presented the annual awards: Prize for Service, Prize for Collegiality, Prize for Leadership, and College Medal for appreciations for members who had made great contributions to the College; and Academic Improvement Awards were presented to those who had shown continuous and significant improvement in studies during the past four years. During the dinner, musical performances were delivered by College and the String Orchestra members. Their performances were fantastic and received appreciation from the audiences. Towards the end of the Valedictory dinner, students took photos with each other to celebrate the end of the semester.
