The Research Services and Knowledge Transfer Office successfully held two IP webinars on September 12 and 13, 2024, attracting nearly 40 academic staff and students from various university faculties, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute. The webinars covered two major topics: “Recent Developments in China’s Patent System and Strategies for Substantive Examination Response” and “Patent Mining and Layout: Standards for Determining Patent Infringement and Response Strategies”.

In the webinars, specially invite Ms. Chen Jiachun, Head of the Biochemical Section, Search and Analysis Department of Jiaquan IP Law, as the keynote speaker. She provided participants with an in-depth analysis of China’s patent system and related strategies. The webinars covered several important topics, including the latest amendments to China’s Patent Law and its implementation rules, techniques for patent mining and layout strategies in R&D projects, considerations for overseas patent deployment and key points for PCT applications, etc.

The two webinars were rich in content and received an enthusiastic response from participants. Through interactive discussions with the keynote speaker, participants gained a deeper understanding of China’s patent system and practical patent operations, helping to enhance their practical skills in patent application and layout.

The Research Services and Knowledge Transfer Office will continue to provide more resources related to intellectual property and research services to the academic community, supporting faculty members and students in their development in the fields of innovation and research.
