人文學院英語中心EWCC學生活動:"Open House, Communication Month, English Presentation & Public Speaking Skills" (3月)
Dear UM students,
Hello UM students! Exciting news from the English Writing and Communication Centre (EWCC), English Language Centre of FAH!
In March 2023, EWCC is holding our first-ever “Communication Month” to celebrate the joy of speaking and effective communication! Our theme this year is: “Sit Down, Speak Up.”
Our featured activities include an Open House event, three workshops in the “Guest Talk Series” and three workshops in the “Academic Workshop Series”.
A. Open House (8th March)
Our Open House welcomes students to freely drop by at EWCC. Students can know more about EWCC and have fun speaking English. This day will mark the onset of the Communication Month.
The Open House event aims at letting students know more about the English Writing and Communication Centre (EWCC) of FAH-ELC, as well as our services and upcoming activities. On this Open House Day, we are going to play some games related to the English language and enjoy refreshment with students. Students are also welcome to bring in their assignments and projects for consultation, or ask any questions regarding English learning. No registration needed. Come and join us!
B. Workshop: “English Presentation & Public Speaking Skills” (9th March)
March is the presentation season. It is a time when many students are working on their class presentations. In order to give a good presentation, not only do students need to have good delivery skills, but they also need to know how to effectively bring out their main points and their take-home messages. In this workshop, Miranda will guide participants through some hands-on activities to help them design effective take-home messages. They will also practice giving speeches to develop their confidence.
To learn more about our workshop series for the Communication Month, check out our posters!
The rest of our activities throughout the month will give students the opportunity to “sit down” among peers and “speak up”, putting what they have learned in the workshops into practice. Students who excel in these activities will be awarded book coupons as prizes.
Students will receive a certificate of completion from the ELC if they have full participation in the guest talk series (3 workshops) or the academic workshop series (3 workshops).
We look forward to seeing you at our events!
