Dear all

You are cordially invited to join the following DGPA guest lecture. Thanks!

Details are as follows:

Date: 06-07/12/2024
Time:

09:30-18:00 @ 06/12/2024; &

09:30-13:00 @ 07/12/2024

Venue: E21B-G002
Topic: Public Administration in the Post-Pandemic Era: Challenges, Opportunities, and Directions
Language: English
Objectives:

The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally transformed the landscape of public administration, presenting new challenges and opportunities for governments and public sector organizations. This symposium aims to critically explore the evolving dynamics of public administration in this post-pandemic era globally, with a particular focus on the Greater Bay Area, emphasizing innovative practices, policy adaptations, and their implications for governance.

As we navigate this transformative period, we must reconsider our understanding of good governance. The advent of AI-related techniques poses risks of dehumanizing public services, while escalating ideological conflicts between East and West have fueled a trend toward de-globalization. Additionally, public trust in bureaucracies has been undermined by the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation, resulting in citizens’ skepticism regarding governmental efficacy.

Agenda:

In light of these macro-level challenges and the micro-level shifts in citizens’ preferences/sentiments, our symposium is structured around the following themes:

  • Comparative Analysis of Governance Structures, Policy Processes, and Decision-Making Mechanisms in the Greater Bay Area and Beyond
  • Navigating Challenges in Public Administration in the Post-Pandemic Era: New Normalcy and Future Directions
  • Technology and Innovation: The Role of Emerging Technologies and Digital Governance
  • Empirical Research in Public Administration: New Data and Innovative Approaches
  • Sustainable Development and Environmental Policy and Governance
