Honours College Welcomes the Delegation of UIUC, our Long-time Partner

On January 9-10, 2025, the Honours College (HC) received a delegation from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), one of our long-time partner universities. Led by Dr. Jacob MINNIEAR, Assistant Director of International Programs, the group of 11 teachers and students embarked on a two-day journey in Macau.

The visit was kicked off with a warm welcome from Prof. Rose Neng LAI, Dean of HC, who set the stage for meaningful dialogue. In the HC Multifunction Room, Prof. LAI first gave a brief introduction about Macau, UM, and HC, and then joined the delegation in a fruitful discussion with current HC students, exchanging ideas and exploring opportunities for future collaboration.

The delegation then enjoyed a guided campus tour, including a visit to the Cheong Kun Lun College, one of the UM’s residential colleges, in which they shared delightful interactions with Dr. Kevin Huang, the Associate Master, and the students of the College.

The second day was dedicated to immersing the delegation in Macao’s educational landscape. Through the arrangements from HC, they visited the Affiliated School of the University of Macau and the School of Nations, two of Macao’s well-known secondary schools. Both schools warmly received the delegation, facilitating engaging activities such as school tours, open classes, and interactive workshops with fellow teachers and students.

With nearly 14 years of partnership, this visit marks one more piece of strong evidence of the firm ties between UIUC and HC. Both parties optimistically look forward to a continuous long-term collaboration.
