Recently, a delegation of 20 staff and students from Cheong Kun Lun College (CKLC) embarked on an exchange program to Weiyang College at Tsinghua University. This program provided a platform for staff and students from both colleges to learn from and engage with each other, fostering comprehensive exchanges in areas such as modern residential college education, innovative practice, and students’holistic development. At the same time, the theme of this visit to Beijing focused on science and technology as well as Chinese culture. The delegation visited cutting-edge technology laboratories at Tsinghua University, the National Museum, the Palace Museum, and the Exhibition Hall of the History of the Communist Party of China, etc. This further enhanced students’ understanding and awareness of the conditions, culture, and the advancements in technological frontiers of our motherland. It also strengthened students’ sense of patriotism and national identity, encouraging them to closely integrate their personal growth, achievements, and success with our country’s development and aspirations.

CKLCers received a warm welcome, and gained an in-depth understanding of founding background, objectives, educational characteristics, and philosophy of personal and academic development at Weiyang College. Staff and students from both colleges engaged in extensive and enthusiastic discussions on topics such as modern residential college education, innovative practice, and future collaboration.

Led by the staff and students of Weiyang College, CKLCers visited several laboratories at Tsinghua University, including the Micro and Nano Fabrication Center of the School of Integrated Circuits, the Key Laboratory of the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Microwave Anechoic Chamber of the Department of Electronics, the iCenter, and the Smart Manufacturing and Innovation Design Center, providing an eye-opening experience for everyone.

In terms of national education, CKLCers visited Tiananmen Square, the National Museum of China, the Palace Museum, the Exhibition Hall of the History of the Communist Party of China, and the Tsinghua University History Museum, and etc. These visits provided an in-depth understanding of the modern history and culture of the Chinese nation, the struggles and achievements of the Chinese people in their modern quest for survival and revival, and further enhanced the CKLCers’ sense of patriotism and national identity.

Visit to the National Museum of China

 

This visit marked the first exchange program between the Cheong Kun Lun College of University of Macau and Weiyang College of Tsinghua University since they established  sister college relationship. Weiyang College is scheduled to visit Cheong Kun Lun College in January 2025. The mutual visits and exchanges between staff and students from both colleges have not only deepened the friendship and collaboration between the colleges but also provided an opportunity for staff and students to broaden their horizons, share experiences, and learn from each other. In the future, both colleges will further promote closer and deeper exchanges and collaboration, advancing the development and innovation of the modern residential college system, and contributing to the cultivation of outstanding talents with patriotism, global vision, and an innovative spirit for the nation.
