UM Students win Second Prize in Computing Track in Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Asia-Pacific Regional Finals

The student team from the Department of Computer and Information Science of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at the University of Macau (UM) represented Macau in the “Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Asia-Pacific Regional Finals,” delivering an outstanding performance and securing the second prize in the Computing Track. The competition attracted over 8,000 students from more than 20 countries and regions worldwide. After intense rounds of competition, the UM team, with their exceptional teamwork, solid professional knowledge, and innovative strategic planning, earned high recognition from the judges. Their success not only showcased the remarkable talent of UM students on the global stage but also reflected the international recognition and affirmation of UM’s academic excellence.

The Huawei ICT Competition, jointly organized by Huawei and the ASEAN Foundation, was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It aims to enhance students’ knowledge and practical skills in information and communication technology, fostering their ability to apply new technologies and solve real-world problems collaboratively. Following last year’s achievement of securing second place in the Global Cloud Track, UM students Tan Hongye,  Lei Wai Hong, and Ho Ka Meng, with their outstanding teamwork, solid technical expertise, and strategic ingenuity, earned high praise from the judges and clinched the honor in the Computing Track for the first time. The team will represent Macau in the global finals, scheduled to be held in Shenzhen in May 2025.

This award not only recognizes the students’ professional capabilities but also highlights the results of UM’s long-standing emphasis on teaching quality and its dedication to nurturing innovative talent. 澳門大學科技學院電腦及資訊科學系學生團隊代表澳門參加的「華為資訊與通訊科技(ICT)大賽2024-2025亞太區域決賽」中表現卓越,成功奪得計算賽道二等獎。大賽吸引了來自全球二十多個國家和地區、超過八千名學生參與,經過層層競爭激烈,澳大團隊憑藉出色的團隊合作、扎實的專業知識與創新的策略布局,贏得了評委的高度認可,成功向世界展示澳大學子的卓越風采,同時反映澳大在國際學術舞台上獲得的認可與肯定。

華為ICT大賽由華為與東協基金會聯合舉辦在馬來西亞吉隆坡舉行,旨在提升學生的資訊與通訊技術知識水平和實踐動手能力,培養其運用新技術、考驗學生共同解決實際情境中的問題。澳大繼去年獲得全球雲賽道第二名後,科技學院學生譚宏業、李偉雄和何家明憑藉出色的團隊協作、紮實的專業技術與巧妙的策略性布局,贏得了評委們的高度認可並首次於亞太區計算賽道奪得殊榮。團隊將代表澳門參加五月在深圳舉行的全球總決賽,與世界頂尖團隊一較高下,為澳門爭光。
