UM Karate Team won 1 Silver at The 8th Karate-do Goju-Kai Global Championships Japan 2025

The 8th Karate-do Goju-Kai Global Championships Japan 2025 was held on 6-11 Aug at Chiba, Japan. Co-organised by International Karate-do Goju-Kai Association(I.K.G.A) and Japan Karate-do Goju-Kai Association(J.K.G.A). UM Karate Team sent 4 members to participate and won 1 Silver in this competition.

The Goju-Kai Karate Global Championships are held every 4 years. This year’s event, themed “Connected by Friendship, Gratitude, and Peace”, embodies the traditional core values of karate as “the martial art of the virtuous” and “beginning and ending with respect.” The championships attracted over 2,000 competitors from more than 30 countries and regions worldwide.

Beyond the main competition, the UM Karate Team participated in the Joint JKGA-IKGA Seminar, led by Goshi Yamaguchi, President of the International Karate-Do Goju-Kai Association (IKGA) and the All Japan Karate-Do Goju-Kai. The seminar focused on mastering fundamental techniques of Goju-Kai and refining the precise execution of various Kata. Additionally, the team visited the local dojo “MU SOU KAN” to observe daily training sessions and engage in sparring exchanges. The next championship will be held in Hungary in 2029.
