Research Services and Knowledge Transfer Office Successfully Held Multiple Events

The Research Services and Knowledge Transfer Office (RSKTO) recently successfully held ‘Introduction of Services to New Staff’ and ‘Sharing on Grant Proposal Writing for Research Funding’. These events provided continuous and practical support for researchers at different stages, from foundational research support to enhancing grant application capabilities, receiving widespread positive feedback from participating academics.
To assist new academics in quickly familiarising themselves with the university’s research environment, RSKTO held introduction of services in English and Chinese on 16 and 17 September, attracting nearly 50 academic and research staff. The sessions comprehensively covered the entire process of research projects — from application and execution to knowledge transfer — including various internal and external funding schemes, guidance on using the Research Services Management System (RSMS) and the Research Ethics Review System (RERS), as well as policies related to patent applications and research commercialisation. Both sessions received enthusiastic responses, with lively Q&A sessions where participants engaged in in-depth discussions with the RSKTO team on practical issues such as project applications, fund utilisation, and equipment procurement.

Subsequently, on 15 October, RSKTO organised ‘Sharing on Grant Proposal Writing for Research Funding’. Three professors with extensive successful application experience — Prof. Carlos SILVESTRE from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Associate Prof. Joong Sup SHIM from the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Associate Prof. Inácio BÓ from the Faculty of Social Sciences — were invited to share practical strategies and key insights into applying for grants from funding bodies such as the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The content covered proposal conceptualisation, writing techniques, and critical steps in the application process, proving highly practical, and attendees reported substantial gains.

Prof. Jiantao Zhou, Interim Director of RSKTO, emphasised during the events that the office remains committed to providing comprehensive support and services to all university researchers, spanning from project application and fund management to research outcomes transformation. In the future, RSKTO will continue to foster a collaborative and innovative research environment through diverse activities, supporting the sustained development of the university’s research endeavours.
