Stanley Ho East Asia College (SHEAC) at the University of Macau successfully hosted an alumni sharing event, “Communicate with High Emotional Intelligence,” on 30^th October 2025. More than 40 students attended this engaging session to learn actionable skills and insights for thriving in both professional and social communication settings.

The featured guest speaker, Mr. Ken Sou, is a renowned University of Macau alumnus. Mr. Sou is recognized as President of the Macau Speaker Association, President of the Macau Music Industry Association, founder of Chessman Music Industry Co., Ltd., and the champion of the 2018 “I Am a Speaker” national contest.

Drawing from his extensive experience in public speaking and the creative industries, Mr. Sou delivered practical insights and interactive demonstrations highlighting emotionally intelligent communication.

During his talk, Mr. Sou systematically summarized and shared six core principles of emotionally intelligent communication, including:

• Situational awareness
• Effective questioning
• Active listening
• Strategic response
• Kindness and optimism
• Emotion regulation

Mr. Sou’s session incorporated real-world scenarios and personal stories, encouraging attendees to apply emotionally intelligent approaches in their workplaces and broader communities. Participants also actively engaged in Q&A sessions, sharing challenges and seeking tailored advice for real-life scenarios.

The event empowered students with a renewed sense of confidence and practical tools to overcome communication barriers, enhance personal appeal, and foster supportive dialogue. SHEAC continues to uphold its commitment to holistic student development and excellence in cross-cultural communication through its alumni sharing series organised every semester.
