FST Successfully Hosts International Symposium on Scientific and Bioengineering Computing to Advance Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation

To encourage integrative research and foster global academic exchange, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at the University of Macau (UM) successfully held the International Symposium on Scientific and Bioengineering Computing from 7 to 8 November 2025. Serving as a high-level academic platform, the symposium brought together renowned scholars, researchers, and industry experts from around the world to share research outcomes, explore innovative solutions, and discuss cutting-edge developments and applications in scientific computing and biomedical engineering.

Over the two-day event, participants engaged in a series of compelling invited talks and academic exchanges covering frontier research areas such as cardiovascular disease modeling, artificial intelligence in drug delivery, high-order numerical methods, and multiphysics simulations. Distinguished experts from leading institutions in China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Saudi Arabia delivered presentations, offering diverse global perspectives and deep technical insights.

Themed “Scientific and Bioengineering Computing,” the symposium featured expert-led sessions addressing key topics including AI-driven diagnostics and drug delivery systems; Deep learning frameworks for medical imaging; Finite element methods and domain decomposition techniques; Multiphysics modeling of cardiac function and Spectral analysis and operator networks in biomedical applications. The event also drew strong participation from students and early-career researchers, who actively interacted with international experts and delved into discussions on the latest scientific frontiers. An evening banquet on the first day further encouraged informal networking and potential collaborations.

This symposium not only demonstrated FST’s strength and commitment in advancing international research collaboration but also reinforced Macau’s role as a vital academic hub within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. Looking ahead, FST will continue to build global partnerships, drive interdisciplinary innovation, and promote the integration of science, technology, and society.
