Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College of UM and Zhixing College of BNU at Zhuhai Join Forces for Cross-Regional Learning

To drive innovation in collegiate education and strengthen inter-campus exchange, the Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College (HFPJC) of University of Macau (UM) and Zhixing College (Zhixing) of Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai) recently co-hosted a series of joint activities. Through site visits and themed dialogues, the two colleges deepened collaboration in holistic education, career development, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

On November 12, led by Associate Professor Qian Zhengrong, Associate Master of Zhixing College, a delegation of staff and students from BNU Zhuhai visited UM. They toured the UM campus and residential college to gain an in-depth understanding of the educational philosophy and operational model of the collegiate system. They then participated in a career planning seminar, engaging in substantive discussions on self-exploration and career pathways. On the same day, HFPJC students joined the group and visited the Macao Grand Prix Museum and the Macao Museum to learn about Macao’s distinctive motorsport culture and urban history, and visited Macau Heritage in the city center to experience the integration of heritage conservation and tourism education.

On November 19, under the leadership of Professor Hui Sai Chuen, Master of HFPJC, and Associate Professor Qian Zhengrong, Associate Master of Zhixing, staff and students from both colleges traveled to Hengqin for an industry–academia–research integration visit. The itinerary included Nanometals Technology, and the Macao Youth Entrepreneurship · Community Living Room, which is a community hub, where participants held face-to-face conversations with young entrepreneurs to learn about the current development of tech companies, Hengqin’s entrepreneurship support policies, and the innovation ecosystem of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. The two sides also explored feasible models for tripartite collaborative education among universities, enterprises, and communities, expanding students’ innovative vision and practical resources.

This series of activities not only fostered mutual learning in collegiate educational concepts and practices across the two regions, but also provided students with rich career inspiration and entrepreneurship cases. Both colleges noted that, after two years of collaboration, a solid foundation has been established. Looking ahead, they will further promote faculty–student exchanges, co-organized themed workshops, and innovation and entrepreneurship internships, continuously deepening intercollegiate cooperation and talent cultivation. By more closely aligning collegiate education with urban development and industry scenarios, our college students will be better supported to broaden their horizons in real-world settings and enhance their holistic abilities and global competitiveness.
