Inspection of Potable Water Supply Systems

The recycled water system in Macao will be commissioned this year, with the tentative service commencement date set for 1 March 2026. Recycled water will be designated for toilet flushing and landscape irrigation. In alignment with this development, the revised “Technical Regulation for Water Supply and Drainage”, will also come into effect on 1 March 2026.

As the University of Macau falls within the initial service coverage area, it is necessary to inspect building water supply systems to ensure that potable water and recycled water supplies are completely independent, thereby safeguarding water quality.

Inspection Arrangement:
Inspections of all building water supply systems on campus will be coordinated between CMDO – EMS and the respective user departments. The inspections will be conducted building by building. Detailed schedules and arrangements will be announced in due course.

Inspection Method:
During the inspection, potable water supply to the building will be temporarily suspended. All potable water outlets, (e.g. faucets, drinking fountains, etc.), will be turned on to check for any unauthorized interconnections. The expected outcome is that no continuous water flow should occur, confirming the absence of cross-connections.

Specific inspection details will be communicated directly to each building / user department.
