[教育學院] 澳門大學教育學院躋身2026THE教育學科全球百強

On January 21, 2026, Times Higher Education (THE) officially released the World University Rankings by Subject 2026. The University of Macau (UM) achieved an outstanding result in the Education (Education studies) subject, ranking 83rd globally and entering the world’s top 100 for the first time. This represents a significant rise from its 2025 ranking band of 126–150, demonstrating the strength of UM’s Faculty of Education in research excellence, teaching quality and talent development, as well as international impact. Notably, this also marks the first time that an academic discipline from a Macao higher education institution has entered the global top 100 in the THE subject rankings.

The THE Subject Rankings evaluate universities based on 18 performance indicators across five core dimensions: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry. The Faculty of Education’s entry into the global top 100 reflects strong international recognition of its overall performance in high-quality research output, outstanding teaching, and internationalisation strategies.

In recent years, the Faculty of Education has continued to strengthen discipline development and optimise its academic structure, while actively promoting innovations in educational research. It has achieved a series of research outcomes with international impact in such areas as STEM and AI education, educational psychology and early childhood education, language and literacy education, educational testing and assessment, as well as arts and physical education. At the same time, the Faculty has undertaken in-depth explorations and reforms in talent and curriculum development, and has successfully recruited many internationally leading scholars alongside influential early- and mid-career academics. In addition, the Faculty has continuously expanded its international academic collaboration network and actively promoted global exchanges, which has enhanced research visibility and academic reputation.

This achievement of ranking Global Top 100 in the education subject not only represents an important affirmation of the Faculty of Education’s academic development, but also reflects the unwavering support provided by the Macao SAR Government, the University of Macau, and the wider community for the advancement of education in Macao.
