HFPJC Reading Club’s hold “A day in Hong Kong” Activity successfully

The Reading Club of the Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College successfully organized “Isle Moments: A Day in Hong Kong.” On 17 January 2026, a group of 25 students and staff visited key landmarks including M+ Museum, the Hong Kong Clock Tower, 1881 Heritage, Victoria Harbour, Golden Bauhinia Square, and the Hong Kong Handover Monument. Participants explored Hong Kong on foot, experiencing its cultural vibrancy and historical depth, and gaining a rich and distinctive cultural encounter.

The first and highlight stop was M+ Museum. Showcasing cutting-edge art and diverse ideas, the museum features exhibitions ranging from Chinese ink painting and traditional embroidery—treasures of Chinese culture—to acclaimed international works. Immersed in a space where East meets West, participants strolled through the galleries, gaining a direct appreciation of the profound heritage of Chinese culture and the openness and inclusiveness of contemporary art—further nurturing a sense of national identity and cultural confidence.

After M+, the group visited historical sites such as the Hong Kong Clock Tower and 1881 Heritage. Through the century-old time tower and the distinctive heritage architecture, participants traced Hong Kong’s historical trajectory from its maritime trade era to the present, reflecting on the precious imprints left by the city across changing times. The visit then continued to Victoria Harbour, transitioning from the city’s past to its modern skyline and vibrant urban landscape.

In the latter part of the itinerary, the group arrived at Golden Bauhinia Square and the Hong Kong Handover Monument, revisiting the significant moment of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland. Experiencing the sites in person deepened participants’ understanding of the far-reaching importance of national territorial integrity and further strengthened their affection for the nation, as well as their responsible citizenship.

The activity not only broadened participants’ humanistic perspectives and promoted cross-regional cultural understanding, but also advanced the Reading Club’s educational mission of “Read — Walk — Reflect — Practice.”
