MCM College: Research Writing Workshop

On March 18, 2026, Moon Chun Memorial College of the University of Macau held a combined session of the Research Writing Series, covering two core themes: Academic Paragraph Construction and Academic Essay Structure. The workshop aimed to help students master the logical framework of academic writing, from paragraph-level organization to full essay coherence, and to enhance their ability to produce clear, structured, and academically rigorous research papers. It attracted students from diverse disciplines, reflecting strong demand for systematic academic writing training.
Led by Residential Tutor Irene Zeng, the session began with a paragraph ordering exercise to diagnose common pitfalls in logic, coherence, and structural flow. Based on observed mistakes, she first explained the standard TEEL paragraph structure (Topic, Explanation/Evidence, Example, Link) and the strategic use of linking words to maintain continuity. Students then practiced refining topic sentences, filling in transitions, and reorganizing scattered sentences into coherent paragraphs.
Building on paragraph skills, the second half of the workshop focused on essay-level construction: introducing the classic introduction-body-conclusion framework, explaining how to align paragraphs to support a central thesis, and demonstrating how to create smooth transitions between sections. Students applied these skills by outlining a short essay and revising sample texts to improve overall flow and argumentation.
Through interactive discussions, peer sharing, and step-by-step guidance, participants gained a holistic understanding of academic writing. The lively and constructive atmosphere encouraged active participation, with students reporting increased confidence in structuring both paragraphs and full essays. This combined session effectively bridged micro-level paragraph skills and macro-level essay organization, laying a solid foundation for their future research and thesis writing.

2026年3月18日,澳門大學滿珍紀念書院舉辦研究寫作系列第二場研究寫作工作坊,主題為「學術段落建構」。本次活動旨在幫助同學掌握學術段落的結構邏輯與寫作技巧,找出段落組織的常見問題,提升研究論文的邏輯表達與寫作精準度。活動吸引不同學科背景同學參與,展現同學對提升學術寫作能力的積極態度。
工作坊由書院助教曾筱冲主講。她首先以段落排序練習引入,診斷同學在邏輯順序、連貫性與架構上的常見錯誤。針對問題講解標準段落架構(主題句、論據支撐、連接詞運用、總結句),並帶領同學進行主題句提煉、連接詞填空、零散句子重組等實戰練習。透過逐步講解與操作示範,同學清晰掌握撰寫連貫、規範學術段落的核心方法。
互動環節中,與會同學踴躍分享作品、提問並討論寫作難點,現場氣氛熱烈且具啟發性。本次工作坊有效強化同學的實務寫作能力,提升學術寫作信心,為後續論文撰寫奠定穩固基礎。
