UM Karate Team won 2 Golds, 3 Silvers and 2 Bronzes at “2026 Hong Kong Karate Open Competition”
The “2026 Hong Kong Karate Open Competition” was held from 4-5 Apr 2026 in Hong Kong. The event brought together over 400 participants from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. UM Karate Team sent 7 members to participate in this event and won a total of 7 medals (2 Golds, 3 Silvers and 2 Bronzes) in this competition.
In addition to the exciting competition, the organiser specially invited current women’s individual kata world No. 1, Hong Kong athlete Grace Lau Mo Sheung, and men’s kumite (-60 kg) world No. 2, Turkish star Eray Samdan, for an exchange session. The two elite athletes demonstrated top-tier kata and kumite techniques on site, allowing participants to gain a deeper experience and great benefits from karate.
