[FED] Delegation from the School of International Education of Shanghai International Studies University visited the Faculty of Education

On May 15 2025, the delegation from the School of International Education of Shanghai International Studies University visited the Faculty of Education at the University of Macau. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean of the Faculty of Education; Prof. Dongbo ZHANG, International and External Partnership Leader of FED ; Prof. Barry Lee REYNOLDS, Programme Director of Master’s Programme and Prof. Shulin YU, Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Education Programme (English) and Programme Coordinator of the Master of Arts in TESOL.

During the meeting, Prof. Zhang introduced the distinctive features, development priorities and research achievements of the Faculty of Education’s academic programmes. Dean Xinhao DOU shared insights into the educational background and curriculum development of Shanghai International Studies University. Both parties engaged in discussions on topics such as teacher professional development and specialized curriculum construction. Particular emphasis was placed on fostering student exchanges, joint postgraduate training initiatives, collaboration in international academic conferences and research project coordination. These exchanges laid a solid foundation for establishing long-term and substantive academic partnerships.

The delegation members included Prof. Xinhao DOU, Dean of School of Education, Shanghai International Studies University and Prof. Chenggang WU, Associate Professor of School of Education, Shanghai International Studies University.

        2025年5月15日，上海外國語大學國際教育學院代表團來訪澳門大學教育學院，受到了教育學院院長范良火教授、國際與對外關係負責人張東波教授、教育研究生課程主任Barry Lee REYNOLDS教授及教育學學士學位課程統籌人（英文）及文學碩士學位課程統籌人（對母語為非英語人士的英語教學）于書林教授的熱烈歡迎。

        會上，張教授介紹了教育學院的課程特色、發展重點及科研成果。竇心浩院長分享了上海外國語大學的辦學背景及課程建設情況。雙方圍繞教師專業發展、專業課程建設等議題展開對話，並重點就學生交流、研究生聯合培養、國際學術會議合作及研究項目聯動等方向進行了深入探討，為後續建立長效化及實質性的學術合作關係奠定了堅實基礎。

        代表團成員包括上海外國語大學國際教育學院院長竇心浩及上海外國語大學國際教育學院副教授吳成剛。

[FED] Delegation from Huzhou University visited the Faculty of Education

On 16 May 2025, a delegation from Huzhou University visited the Faculty of Education (FED) at the University of Macau (UM), where they were warmly welcomed by Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean of FED, Prof. Dongbo ZHANG, International and External Partnership Leader of FED and Prof. Keang Ieng VONG, Programme Coordinator of Bachelor of Education Programme (Pre-Primary).

During the visit, Prof. Zhang introduced the distinctive features and development priorities of FED, while Vice Rector Sheng shared Huzhou University’s educational philosophy and recent achievements. Both sides held discussions on teacher education and curriculum development, with a particular focus on collaborative initiatives such as joint student training, credit recognition and study opportunities for students in Macao. These discussions laid a solid foundation for future collaboration.

At the end, both parties exchanged souvenirs. The visit not only deepened mutual understanding but also laid a strong groundwork for continued communication and cooperation in the future.

The delegation members included Prof. Kuang SHENG, Vice Rector (Administration) of Huzhou University; Prof. Wenjun HU, Dean of the Graduate School; Prof. Maoning TANG, Director of the Academic Affairs Office; Prof. Xiaofen LU, Executive Dean of Anding College and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship College and Prof. Meilan JIN, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation.

        2025年5月16日，湖州師範學院代表團來訪澳門大學教育學院，受到了教育學院院長范良火教授，國際與對外關係負責人張東波教授及教育學學士學位課程統籌人（學前教育）黃鏡英教授的熱烈歡迎。

        會上，張東波教授介紹了教育學院的辦學特色與發展重點，盛況副校長分享了湖州師範學院的辦學理念及近期成果。雙方就教師教育、專業課程建設展開討論，並重點探討了學生聯合培養、課程互認及學生赴澳就讀等合作可能，為未來的實質性交流奠定基礎。會後，雙方交換了紀念品，此次交流不僅加深了彼此之間的瞭解，並為雙方後續溝通交流，互相合作奠定了堅實的基礎。

[FED] Delegation from the College of Education for the Future at Beijing Normal University visited the Faculty of Education

On 16 May 2025, a delegation from the College of Education for the Future at Beijing Normal University (BNU) visited the Faculty of Education (FED) at the University of Macau (UM), where they were warmly received by Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean of FED; Prof. Dongbo ZHANG, International and External Partnership Leader of FED and Prof. Yang GONG, Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Education in Chinese.

Dean Fan highlighted the faculty’s research development strategy, and expressed hope for achieving substantial progress in future academic cooperation and talent cultivation. Prof. Zhang provided an overview of FED’s educational philosophy, curriculum structure, teaching faculty and research achievements. Prof. Yuhong DU, Dean of the College of Education for the Future at BNU introduced the faculty’s development history and talent training goals. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics in contemporary education and future collaboration in joint talent development, laying a solid foundation for continued exchange.

[FED Inaugural Lecture] My Research, Reflection and Vision about Teacher Education and Teacher Professional Development: The Case of Mathematics Successfully Held

On 23 April 2025, FED Inaugural Lecture on “My Research, Reflection and Vision about Teacher Education and Teacher Professional Development: The Case of Mathematics” was held in the Tin Ka Ping Lecture Hall, Faculty of Education (E33-G021), at the University of Macau (UM). Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Chair Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Education, UM is invited as the speaker of the lecture. Prof. Fan holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and has extensive experience in education and research in mainland China, Singapore and the United Kingdom. He began his career as a mathematics teacher and later became a teacher educator and educational researcher, with a long-standing focus on teacher education and professional development.

In this inaugural lecture, Prof. Fan shared his extensive research on mathematics teacher education and teacher professional development across different cultural contexts. Drawing from his personal experience as a school teacher, teacher educator and academic, he reflected on key issues in teacher education and discussed how pedagogical knowledge develops in practice. He also presented findings from his influential Chinese-language book “A study on the development of teachers’ pedagogical knowledge (《教師教學知識發展研究》)“, which has been cited over 1,800 times in the CNKI database and recognized for pioneering a new direction in teacher education research in China; his research profoundly reveals the importance of teachers’ own experiences and reflections, as well as their daily interactions with colleagues, in the development of their teaching knowledge. It also presents insights into the nature of teaching knowledge and its implications for both pre-service and in-service teacher education and professional development; his English-language book “Investigating the pedagogy of mathematics: How do teachers develop their pedagogical knowledge” has been praised as “a great contribution to the mathematics teacher education scholarship” with significant implications for teachers, educators, policymakers and researchers around the world. In conclusion, Prof. Fan shared his vision for the future of teacher education and professional development, addressing the challenges and opportunities for growth through educational research and practice.

        2025年4月23日，教育學院就職演講 “我在教師教育與教師專業發展領域的研究、反思與展望：以數學學科為例” 於澳門大學教育學院田家炳演講廳（E33-G021）舉行，主講人為澳門大學教育學院院長及講座教授范良火。范教授擁有美國芝加哥大學博士學位，曾在中國內地、新加坡及英國從事教師教育與教育研究工作。他的職業生涯始於數學教師，後轉為師範類高校的教師教育者與教育研究者，長期專注於教師教育與教師專業發展等領域。

        在本次講座中，范教授分享了他在中美等地多年關於數學教師教育與教師專業發展的研究成果。他結合自身從一線教師到教育學者的經歷，反思教師教育的重要議題與實踐經驗，尤其強調教師教學知識的發展路徑與跨文化比較研究的價值。隨後，他介紹了其標誌性著作《教師教學知識發展研究》，該書被譽為 “為國內教師教育研究開闢了新的道路”，在中國國家知識基礎設施（CNKI）中被引用超過1,800次；他的研究深刻地揭示了教師自身的經驗和反思、以及和同事的日常交流對教師教學知識發展的重要性，並提出了關於教師教學知識本質的認識及對職前和職後教師教育和專業發展的影響；他的英文著作《 Investigating the pedagogy of mathematics: How do teachers develop their pedagogical knowledge》 被國際學界評價為 “對於數學教師教育學術研究的巨大貢獻”。最後，范教授展望了未來教師教育的發展方向，並探討了教師專業發展在教育研究與實踐中面臨的挑戰與希望。
