Professors and students have discussion and with China State Construction Engineering (Macau) Co., Ltd.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of University of Macau arranged a visit for UM students to the prefabricated construction factory in Zhuhai and the construction site of Senior Apartments in Macaulast month . Experts and professional engineers from the China State Construction Engineering Cooperation (CSCEC) Macau shared the benefits of prefabricated construction, BIM applications, successful projects, as well as the history of the corporation.

Intensive discussion on the application of prefabricated buildings and BIM modeling, the efficiency by adapting prefabricated construction was made during this visit. It was shared that this technology is capable to fully construct a 7-story building using prefabricated units within only 7 days as a very good example, which would be impossible if traditional method was adapted. Further discussion on the systemic workflow with the aid of BIM modeling from the start of the project to the end is also a main focus between our fellow students and professors. Students and professors also have the opportunity to see the whole fabrication process of MIC units and elements in the factory.

From the visit to the construction site of Senior Apartments, CEE students have further understood the importance of developing and adopting the technology of prefabricated construction and BIM modeling in real projects in Macau. It is believed that the concept and the knowledge of this technology will be promoted continuously, and further inspire the construction industry to innovate, as well as continue exploring in this field.

澳門大學科技學院土木及環境工程系師生上月參觀了廣東海龍建築科技有限公司裝配式建築廠房及澳門長者公寓工地,是次活動獲得了來自中國建築工程(澳門)有限公司的專家和專業工程師的熱情款待,同時向師生們展示了裝配式建築、BIM 建模的優勢以及多個成功項目。

在參觀厰房的過程中,多位領導向師生們講解了裝配式建築應用的歷史以及未來發展等重要課題。專家和教授們之間重點討論了採用裝配式建築的效率,其中提及到一個成功例子為利用該技術僅在7 天內使用預製單元完全建造一座 7 層高的樓房。師生們更親身觀察到裝配式預制件及預制房單位的生產全過程。

而在參觀澳門長者公寓工地時,師生們進一步了解到預制件在建築過程中的安裝方法及程序。此外,工程師們也詳細講解了該工地所採用的BIM建模來管理整個項目,達到系統性的工作流程及安全施工等目標。從討論中,師生們進一步了解到採用裝配式建築和BIM建模技術的重要性。未來這項技術的概念和知識將繼續被推廣及應用,以激發建築行業的創新和發展。

論壇為澳大和中國科學院間的合作奠定更堅實的基礎
Forum lays a solid foundation for cooperation between UM and Chinese Academy of Sciences

 

Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the University of Macau has successfully conducted its first forum on Science and Biomedical Computing on 21 March. Many experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences gathered at the University of Macau to discuss cutting-edge scientific and biomedical topics, such as high-performance computing, heart modeling, and blood flow simulation. The forum attracted many experts, scholars, and students from the University of Macau and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

More than ten speeches and discussions were held during the forum, providing participants with extensive opportunities for exchange and collaboration. Scholars from the Chinese Academy of Sciences shared their latest research results and experience in their respective fields and discussed their insights and ideas with participants. The participation of experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences enriched the content and enhanced the profession of the forum, it also strengthened the cooperation between universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for laying a solid foundation for academic exchange and cooperation between the University of Macau and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

During his speech,  Xiao-Chuan Cai, director of the Center for Applied Mathematics and chairman of the forum, stated that the forum provided an important opportunity for students, experts, and scholars to exchange. FST will continue to uphold the concept of innovation, and cultivate more outstanding talents to jointly promote the development of mathematics and technological innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

澳門大學科技學院首個科學與生物醫學計算論壇今(3月21日)圓滿結束,多位來自中國科學院的專家聚首澳大,共同就前沿科學及生物醫學主題如高性能計算、心臟建模、血流模擬等展開深入討論,論壇吸引了多位澳大和中國科學院的專家學者及學生參加。

是次論壇共舉辦了十多場演講及討論,為與會者提供了廣泛的交流和合作機會。其中,來自中國科學院的多位專家分享了他們在各自領域上最新的研究成果和經驗,並與其他與會者剖析了他們的見解和想法。中國科學院的專家不僅為論壇注入了更多的活力和專業性,加強了粵港澳高校的合作,還為澳門大學和中國科學院間的學術交流合作奠定了更堅實的基礎。

應用數學研究中心主任及論壇主席蔡小川致辭時表示,是次論壇為學生、專家及學者提供了重要的交流和寶貴的合作機會,科技學院將繼續秉承創新的理念,不斷推進科技創新和人才培養工作,培養優秀人才,共同推動粵港澳大灣區生物醫學及科技創新發展。

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the University of Macau (UM) successfully held a forum on autonomous driving: Scenario-Generated Simulation recently (24th), experts from universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area were invited to share. The forum also attracted nearly 100 scholars and students from different fields to discuss the generation and application of metaverse-based platform that allows for the superimposition of real autonomous driving vehicles in simulated scenarios. Scholars from City University of Hong Kong, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangdong Institute of Intelligent Science and Technology, Tsinghua University and UM shared and summarized the research results and practical experiences of autonomous driving in the China, Hong Kong and Macao.

The forum was held at UM and covered a number of important technologies, including the introduction of the Macao Car Racing Metaverse (MoCAM) Platform, the combination of virtual world and real world data, the robustness of autonomous driving systems, and the optimization and learning of autonomous navigation. In his speech, Xu Cheng-Zhong, Dean of FST, said that metaverse and autonomous driving are the top trending topics in the world. The metaverse platform has the function of generating virtual scenes, which can provide an ideal experimental environment and technical support to verify the algorithm of autonomous driving and develop vehicle perception system, perform testing of the adaptability, stability and efficiency of the autonomous vehicle. Through this forum, universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be allowed to exchange experiences and ideas in cutting-edge fields, and have more opportunities for cooperation, laying the ground for the development of diversified industries in Macao.

In addition, the University of Macau, City University of Hong Kong and Southern University of Science and Technology will jointly organize and a Metaverse Autonomous Driving Challenge this year, using the Metaverse platform to provide students and researchers an ideal experimental environment and opportunity to learn from each other. The forum attracted numerous professors and students from FST, State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, and Collaborative Innovation Research Institute.

澳大科技學院日前(24日)成功舉辦自動駕駛論壇,多名粵港澳大灣區高校的專家獲邀分享。論壇更吸引近百名不同領域的學者及學生參與,一同探討自動駕駛及元宇宙平台的多維空間場景生成及應用。來自香港城市大學、南方科技大學、中國科學院深圳先進技術研究院、廣東省智能科學與技術研究院、清華大學及澳門大學的學者分享及總結三地自動駕駛科研成果及實踐經驗。

論壇於澳大舉行,涵蓋元宇宙MoCAM平台介紹、虛擬世界/真實世界數據的結合、自動駕駛系統的穩健性及自主導航的優化和學習等多項重要技術。科技學院院長須成忠致辭時表示元宇宙及自動駕駛是目前全球炙手可熱的話題,元宇宙平台具備虛擬場景生成功能,可為比賽提供必要的環境及技術支撐,以驗證自動駕駛的算法、訓練車輛感知系統、檢測車輛的適應性、穩定性及高效性。期望透過本次論壇加強粵港澳大灣區高校在前沿領域的交流,發掘更多共同合作機會以進行深入技術的深討,以配合澳門社會多元發展。

此外,澳門大學將聯同香港城市大學及南方科技大學於本年共同組織及舉辦元宇宙自動駕駛挑戰賽,利用元宇宙平台,為學生及科研人員提供理想的實驗環境及相互切磋的機會。是次會議吸引澳大科技學院、智慧城市物聯網國家重點實驗室及協同創新研究院的師生參與。

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the University of Macau (UM) presents the 2022/2023 “Teaching Excellence Award” and “Research Excellence Award” to 4 professors today (8 February). After the selection by FST management committee, the “Teaching Excellence Award” were presented to Prof U Leong Hou, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science and Prof Hao Tianwei, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The “Research Excellence Awards” were presented to Prof Ma Shaodan, Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Prof Zhou Jiantao, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science. The award aims to commend these professors for their constantly improvement in teaching and perseverance and innovation in research. They successfully enhance the quality of teaching and research of UM, as well as setting up a role model for other academic staff and students.

Leong Hou U, Associate professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science, has been teaching at UM since 2011. Over the past few years, he has undertaken many large-scale Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence conferences as the chairman and core member of the local committee, and has led many students to participate in international programming contest. The competition creates important opportunities for students by broadening their international horizons. He coordinates and teaches an interdisciplinary MSc in Data Science which attracts students from many different disciplines. In teaching, he also shows inclusiveness to students, and values the perspectives of students with different academic backgrounds. He successfully creates a positive and valued learning environment. At the same time, through sharing the cutting-edge scientific research results in big data processing and analysis, theory and practical knowledge are effectively delivered in the class, thus, a platform is established for students to cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Tianwei Hao, Assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, joined UM in 2017. In regards of teaching, he prepares well before every class and usually cites additional background information and examples, using various teaching tools, such as thought experiments and animation videos, to help students absorb the most cutting-edge knowledge and have better learning experiences, most importantly, his teaching makes the class more attractive which largely stimulate students’ enthusiasm and learning motivation. Prof Hao believes that learning is like a boat sailing against the current must forge ahead or it will be driven back, therefore, continuous learning is the best way to teach by precept and example. He keeps improving his research and hopes set up a role model of independent learning for students.

Shaodan Ma is a Professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City at the University of Macau. Her research focuses on array signal processing, transceiver design, localization in wave communications and massive MIMO systems. She has published over 180 papers in referred journals and conferences. She was a symposium co-chair for various international conferences including IEEE ICC 2021, 2019 & 2016, IEEE/CIC ICCC 2019, IEEE GLOBECOM 2016, etc. Currently she serves as an Editor for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Communications Letters, and Journal of Communications and Information Networks. She received Macao Science and Technology Award (3rd prize, Natural Science Award) in 2022.

Jiantao Zhou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science who joined UM in 2012. His research focuses on artificial intelligence security and privacy protection. Professor Zhou has made a lot of achievements in the field of multimedia information security and forensics in social networks. His highly robust forged image detection and positioning technology has been successfully applied to the security department of Alibaba and used to detect the authenticity of certificate images. Professor Zhou is currently the associate editor of two top journals in the field of multimedia information processing, IEEE Trans. Image Processing and IEEE Trans Multimedia, and the co-chairman of the 2023 Program Committee of the flagship conference in the multimedia field, IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME). Won the third prize of the Natural Science Award of the Macau Science and Technology Awards.

澳門大學科技學院今 (2月8日) 頒發2022/2023學年年度「優秀教學獎」及「研究卓越獎」予四位教授。經過學院相關管理委員會的嚴格遴選,「優秀教學獎」由電腦及資訊科學系副教授余亮豪及土木及環境工程系助理教授郝天偉奪得。而「研究卓越獎」則由電機及電腦工程系馬少丹教授及電腦及資訊科學系副教授周建濤獲得。獎項旨在表揚他們言傳身教、力臻完美的教學以及在科研上精益求精、砥礪創新的精神,為師生們樹立良好榜樣,同時提升澳大及科技學院教學及科研水平。

電腦及資訊科學系副教授余亮豪自2011年在澳大任教,過去數年多次承辨多項大型數據工程及人工智能會議擔任本地委員會主席及核心成員,並組織及帶領多屆學生參與國際性程序設計比賽,為學生締造更多學習機會,擴闊國際視野。他協調並教授跨學科的數據科學碩士課程,吸引眾多不同學科的學生參與。教學上,他展現對學生的包容性,同時重視不同學術背景學生的觀點,創造積極及受重視的學習環境。同時,透過從事大數據處理及分析的學術科研成果,課堂上有效柔合前沿理論及實際操作,為學生建立平台,培養批判性思考及解決問題的能力。

土木及環境工程系助理教授郝天偉於2017年加入澳大,每次授課前皆有充足準備,經常引用額外的背景資料及實例,同時運用各種教學工具,如思想實驗及動畫影片等,令學生吸收到最前沿的知識,有更優質的課堂體驗,同時令教學更加引人入勝,激發學生的熱情及學習動機。郝教授相信學習就如逆水行舟,持續學習就是最好的言傳身教,因此不斷精進其研究領域,引導學生成為自主學習的榜樣。

馬少丹教授於2015年加入澳大,主要從事無線通信、多天線通信系統信號處理、收發機優化設計、性能分析、資源分配等方向理論研究及實踐工作,在國際權威期刊及會議上發表學術論文180餘篇。現任IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications,IEEE Transactions on Communications,IEEE Communications Letters, 和 Journal of Communications and Information Networks等期刊編委,曾多次擔任包括IEEE ICC 2021, 2019 & 2016、IEEE/CIC ICCC 2019、IEEE GLOBECOM 2016等在內的國際學術會議無線通信研討會聯席主席,2022年更獲得澳門科學技術獎自然科學三等獎。

電腦及資訊科學系副教授周建濤2012年加入澳大,研究方向是人工智能安全與隱私保護。周教授在社交網絡的多媒體信息安全與取證領域建樹頗豐,其所提出的高魯棒偽造圖像檢測與定位技術成功應用於阿里巴巴安全部及應用於檢測證件類圖像的真偽。周教授目前擔任多媒體信息處理領域兩個頂級期刊IEEE Trans. Image Processing和IEEE Trans Multimedia的副主編,以及多媒體領域旗艦會議IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) 2023程序委員會聯合主席,2022年更奪得澳門科技獎自然科學三等獎。

科技學院頒發「優秀教學獎」及「研究卓越獎」以表彰教職員分別在教學及研究上取得的卓越成就。反映學院對教學及科研質量的重視,未來學院將繼續推動大學的教研水準,為社會作育英才。
