UM Rock Climbing Team captured 1 Silver Medals at the“19th All China University Rock Climbing Championship”

The “19th All China University Rock Climbing Championship” was organized by Federation of University Sports of China and held in Hangzhou during 31 October – 5 November 2023. UM Rock Climbing Team won ” Outstanding Athletes” and 1 silver medal in “Grade A (Group A) Women’s All-Round in 2 Events”

楊伊琳女士現在是澳門大學社會科學學院公共行政博士生，是前中國女子體操隊成員，曾獲得2008年奧運會女子體操團體金牌、女子體操個人全能銅牌、2010年亞運會女子體操團體金牌。現任中山大學講師，體操及啦啦隊操校隊教練。

We are delighted to announce that UMSU Sailing Association is once again organizing an exciting sailing experience workshop and we are now accepting registrations! Whether you are a beginner or have some sailing experience, we welcome your participation. In this event, you will have the opportunity to learn the basics of sailing and personally experience the joy of sailing. If you are curious and interested in sailing, don’t miss this opportunity and sign up now!

The “How UM Alumni Athletes Become an Entrepreneur ”Sharing Sessions, organized by the Office of Sports Affairs (OSA), were held successfully on 13 and 20 Sep at E31-Theatre.

Mr. Xu Jin, the first session guest speaker, is an active archery athletes and an Archery Instructor (Level II) of National Archery Association. He has twice entrepreneurial experience. While the second session guest speaker Mr. Wen LinJian is China National LV2 tennis player, China Tennis Association Intermediate Coach. He also is the President of Macau Metaverse Association and Chairman of Macau Scholars Development Association. They were invited to share their experience at start-up business. The two sharing sessions each attracted over 250 student participants.

The participants enjoyed a lot in the seminars with positive feedback.

【Sports Seminars and Workshop】“The Path to be a Winner of World University Games” Sharing Sessions were held successfully

“The Path to be a Winner of World University Games” Sharing Session, organized by the Office of Sports Affairs (OSA), was held successfully on 30 August at Sports Pavilion (N8). Wong Sam In, who won a gold and a bronze medal in the women’s Nanquan and Nandao of the Wushu event respectively at the 31st FISU World University Games, was invited to share her successful experience. It attracted over 600 UM staff and student participants.

At the beginning of the sharing session, Vice Rector (Student Affairs) Prof. Mok Kai Meng presented the “Certificate of Congratulations” to Wong Sam In. Following the presentation, Wong shared her successful experience at how to keep the balance between sports and academics, releasing stress and how to overcome injury, and winning the gold medal in the World University Games. After that, the father of Wong, also the Interim College Master of Cheng Yu Tung College, Prof. Wong Seng Fat shared his feelings and expressed his support. Prof. Wong said as the father of an athlete, he always struggles with how to express his support since he was afraid that it will be putting pressure on her.. Wong Sam In admitted that she once wanted to give up her career as an athlete after the injury. She is grateful to her family and coaches for their constant support and companionship, which gave her the strength to persevere. In the end, Wong Sam In demonstrated Nanquan to all audiences to complete the sharing session.

Congraulations to Student Han Soi Wa on winning 2 golds at Asian Junior Wushu Championships

The “2023 SJM 11th Asian Junior Wushu Championships” was held in Macau from 17 to 20 Aug 2023. There were nearly 300 junior Wushu athletes from 23 countries and regions participated in the championship this year. UM Martial Arts Team Member Han Soi Wa (FBA/CYTC), won 2 gold medals in Boy’s Taijishan A and Boy’s Taijiquan A of the Wushu event respectively at the championships.

Han Soi Wa was admitted to “Principal Recommended Admission Scheme (Outstanding Student-Athletes)” in 2023/2024 and got the “University of Macau Golden Lotus Scholarship”. Now he is a first-year student in the Department of Finance and Business Economics of the Faculty of Business Administration and the Cheng Yu Tung College. The scheme aims to praise local student-athletes who accomplish remarkable sports achievement and to encourage them to pursue higher academic qualifications while continue to make breakthrough in their sports, so that they can become outstanding student-athletes who excel in both academic and sports.

He expressed his glad to win 2 Gold medals at Asian Junior Wushu Championships and his gratitude to his coach, team mates and family for their support. “I hope to continue to do what I love and enjoy martial arts in the future. At the same time, I also hope to participate in more international competitions which could earn international honours for Macau and UM.”

黃心妍同學自幼習武。13歲加入澳門集訓隊，主項為南拳、南刀及南棍。中學時代已參加多個武術青少年組賽事包括有澳門武術錦標賽、全國青年運動會、亞洲青少年武術錦標賽及世界青少年武術錦標賽等，並奪得多面金牌。黃心妍同學於第31屆世界大學生運動會中勇奪武術女子南拳金牌及南刀銅牌。

UM Martial Arts Team won 3 Silvers and 2 Bronzes at
“2023 All China University Wushu Championship”

The “2023 All China University Wushu Championship” was held in Qina’an, Hebei from 10 July to 16 July 2023. There were over 400 athletes from 55 universities and Hong Kong Wushu Team participated in the championship this year.

UM Martial Arts Team sent 4 students for competing in 11 events and finally won 3 Silvers and 2 Bronze medals.
