Highlights of Experience and Games

The UM Table Tennis Team Fun Day was held successfully on 16 Sep at UM Sports Complex (N8) and there was a total of 100 UM students and UM Sports Volunteers participating in this activity.

Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) organized this university team Fun Day with the aim to let UM students interact with the university team members and to experience team training through designated teaching sessions.

The activity consists of 5 parts including an introduction to Team Members, learning Singles and Doubles Table Tennis Rules, performance competition, Table Tennis experiential activities, and game booths, in order to let student participants know more about the sports and our UM Table Tennis Team. Student participants were invited to play together with Table Tennis Team members and let them enjoy the fun of sports.

乒乓球是一項需要敏捷思維和出色技術的運動。在比賽中，球員需要精准控制球的力度和角度，和善於應變。中國是乒乓球強國，這項運動在國內也廣受歡迎，被譽為“國球”。無論在奧運會上還是在日常生活中，乒乓球都是一項極具魅力的運動。所以我非常高興，能在同樂日裡跟大家推廣這項運動，也非常感謝學校給予我們這次的機會，去進行推廣，亦希望經過同樂日之後，大家會對這項運動有更加深入的瞭解，從而去喜歡上它。

澳大乒乓球隊同樂日非常有趣！我在這個活動中度過了愉快的時光。和校隊一起比賽乒乓球，互相挑戰和交流技巧，增進了彼此之間的友誼。同時，我也體驗到了遊戲的刺激和快樂，每一個遊戲都讓我感到振奮和充滿活力。整個活動的氛圍輕鬆歡樂，我在笑聲和掌聲中渡過了一個美好的日子。這次同樂日讓我更加熱愛乒乓球，並且激發了我繼續努力提升技能的動力。我很感激有這樣的活動讓我們能夠在學業壓力之外放鬆身心，同時享受運動的樂趣。這將是我難以忘懷的回憶之一，我期待著下次的同樂日活動！

Students who attend the WHOLE activity and arrive ON TIME will be given 2 PE hours (late arrival, early leave or leave the venue during the event for over 10 minutes will NOT be given PE hours).

UM Sports Volunteer Programme was held successfully

UM Sports Volunteer Programme (UMSVP) was successfully implemented by Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) in the academic year 2022/2023. The UMSVP aims to cultivate a culture of volunteerism in the sports community and promote the development of skills among volunteers on campus. Through the programme, participants gained valuable experience and skills in both theory and practice.

It is the first year for OSA to launch the programme and it attracts an recruitment of 162 students to take part in 16 trainings and 37 UM or non-UM sports activities for their participation in servicing with a total of 1,536 service hours.

The 16 training courses covering content related to Team Building, Sports Activity Planning and Organizing, Athletics Regulations Workshop, Sports Photography, Sports Venues and Facilities Set-up, Basic Press Release Knowledge, Basic News Video Production, Fundamental News Photography, Basketball Regulations Workshop, Event Etiquette Training and Emcee Training, while 37 activities (Sports Experience, Sports Competitions, Sports Fun Day, Sports Event Opening Ceremony, Sports Award Ceremony, etc) covering service content related to AV control, venue setup, people control, sports referees, assistance to sports instructors, etc.

In order to promote sports volunteer service on campus and thank you for their contribution, UMSVP awards are held on a yearly basis. In 2022/2023, a total of 14 students achieved the Bronze Award for their participation and achievements in the programme, and special recognition was given to the “Volunteer Star” (the longest service hours done for the year), FONG HIO LAM (FBA/CKYC), who contributed 110.25 hours of service hours during 2022/2023.

The success of the Sports Volunteer Programme’s first year demonstrates the university’s commitment to promoting the whole person development (Responsible Citizenship, Global Competitiveness, Knowledge Integration, Teamwork and Collaboration, Service and Leadership, Cultural Engagement, and Healthy Lifestyle). The programme not only benefits the students themselves but also contributes to the wider community by providing support and services to various sports events.

Overall rating, the UM Sports Volunteer Programme’s was a great success running in the first year, providing rich experiences and opportunities for students to develop their skills and make a positive impact in the community. We are proud of the achievements of the participants and look forward to providing such opportunities for students in the near future.

at “May Fourth Youth Table Tennis Invitational Tournament”

The “May Fourth Youth Table Tennis Invitational Competition” was organized by Youth Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Macau (澳門僑界青年協會) and it was successfully held on 28 May.

There were total of 12 teams, namely

UM Track and Field Team won Bronze Medal at “2023 Macao (Spring) Track and Field Competition”

The “2023 Macao (Spring) Track and Field Competition” was held from 20 to 21 May at Olympic Sports Centre – Stadium. It was organized by General Association of Athletics of Macau. This is one of the largest Track and Field Competitions in Macao, with participants from various sports clubs and organizations.

UM Track and Field Team sent 12 members (8 men and 4 women) to participate in this event, HONG KUOK LONG (FBA/MLC) emerged as the High Jump bronze medalist in the Men’s Open Category. All team members demonstrated outstanding performance and sportsmanship in the competition.

Congratulations to the award-winning athletes and team members, and expresses its appreciation for their hard work and dedication, which have brought this honor to the University of Macau.

The “2022-2023 CICA Masters’ Cup – Table Tennis Competition”, co-organized by Committee on Inter-College Affairs (CICA) and OSA, was held successfully.

The preliminary round was held on 25 Mar in which 10 college teams were divided into two groups, the best 2 teams of each group would be qualified to the final round which was taken place on 1 Apr. The final result is shown below:

今年的CICA院長盃乒乓球賽整個籌備非常順利，比賽過程中也有許多精彩刺激的場面，讓我感到心潮澎湃。最讓人難以忘卻的是運動員們拼搏、堅持不懈的精神，各位選手都拿出了最好的表現，苦練許久，終於在今天收穫了成果。
同時在本次比賽的籌備階段得到了校方體育事務部和澳大學生會乒乓球會在場地、裁判、技術指導方面的大力支持。今年迎來了疫情開放後的第一場乒乓球賽，我們以感恩且興奮的心情去積極籌備這次比賽，並展望未來。冀以後的乒乓球比賽能越辦越好，勇攀高峰。

這次的CICA乒乓球比賽感覺大家都付出了很大的努力，身為參賽球員，在比賽過程中也感受到了比賽濃厚的氛圍。其實這次的冠軍是我個人的初體驗，所以對我意義非凡。
比賽的兩天時間，賽程都非常緊湊，無論是隊友還是友方書院球員都不免感到了壓力。這樣的比賽節奏對於觀眾來說是非常精彩的，但對於球員來說，在生理和心理層面上皆是挑戰，希望沒有辜負院長和觀眾們的期待，更希望CICA的所有比賽都能順利圓滿。

決賽當天的氛圍很不錯，比賽的進行也很順利，澳大體育志願者和CICA籌備組織的工作人員今日現場的協調工作等都完成得相當不錯，希望在未來的比賽籌備工作中都能見到大家忙碌且充實的身影。

The “2022-2023 Macau University Track and Field Championship” was held from 3 to 5 Mar at Olympic Sports Centre – Stadium. The participating higher education institutions included:

  • City University of Macau
  • Macao Polytechnic University
  • Macau University of Science and Technology
  • University of Macau

UM Student CHAN KIN WA(FSS/CKYC) broke the 30-year-old Macao Men’s 100-meter Record with 10.61 seconds and became the 100-meter record holder of (1) Macao Open, (2) Youth and (3) Junior groups.

43 UM Students participated and won a total of 29 medals (11 Golds, 9 Silvers and 9 Bronzes) in the competition, the results are as follows:

The “2022-2023 Macau University Track and Field Championship” is organized by ADUM (Macau Universitarian Sports Association) and co-organized by Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of Government of Macao SAR.

-Equipment usage and operation (Basketball Scorer’s Table)
