UM Karate Team won 3 Golds, 5 Silvers and 6 Bronzes at

“Macau Under 18 (2nd Round) and Over 17 (2nd Round) Karate Championship 2024”

The “Macau Under 18 (2nd Round) and Over 17 (2nd Round) Karate Championship 2024” was organized by Macau Karate-do Federation, and it was held on 26 Oct. UM Karate Team sent 10 members to participate and won 14 medals (3 Golds, 5 Silvers and 6 Bronzes) in this competition.

UM Dragon Boat Team got the 3rd prize at “2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Youth Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament”

The “2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Youth Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament” co-organized by University of Macau and Foshan University, was successfully held on 13 Oct in Foshan, with the aim to promote Chinese traditional culture and to enhance the friendship between the youth of Macau, Guangdong and Hong Kong. 

A total of 13 dragon boat teams from the Greater Bay Area higher institutions, over 212 student athletes had completed in the 200m & 500m events.   The participating teams are:

  • Foshan University
  • Guangdong Industry Polytechnic University
  • Guangzhou Sport University
  • Hong Kong Baptist University
  • Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau
  • Macao Polytechnic University
  • Macau University of Science and Technology
  • Shunde Innovation School, University of Science and Technology Beijing
  • Soutbern Medical University
  • South China Normal University
  • Sun Yat-Sen University

Finally, UM Dragon Boat Team got the 3th prize (三等獎) in this competition. Other than dragon boat competitions, there were also cultural exchange and campus tour for participants to build up friendship and connection.

UM Students and Staff Participated in 2024 National Day Celebration March

To celebrate the anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and to enhance the health of Macao citizens, the “2024 National Day Celebration March” activity has been held on 1 Oct at Golden Lotus Square. It was organized by Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and is one of the yearly large scale sports activities in Macao.

Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) coordinated a total of 76 students and staff participated in walking event in this activity so as to enhance the healthy culture for UM members.

2024 National Day Celebration March

To celebrate the anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and to enhance the health of Macao citizens, the Government of Macao SAR is going to organize the “2024 National Day Celebration March” on 1 Oct 2024 (Tue).

Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) will coordinate the relevant arrangement for UM members to participate in the Walking session, all UM staff and students are welcome to join the activity. The walking distance is about 3 km.

Train the Trainer Programme (T.T.T.) –
“Integration of Physical and Moral Education: Posture Analysis Inspector Training Course”

Training Course Arrangement:

Introduction:
  • Master the basic theories and practical skills of adult posture analysis, while understanding the characteristics of other age groups.
  • Enhance the ability to identify and assess common adult posture issues, while recognizing posture development across different age groups.
  • Learn to apply posture analysis techniques to promote adult health management and understand how to apply these to other age groups.
Course Content:
  • Theory 6 hours
  • Internship 6 hours

UM Dragon Boat Team won Champion at “The 23rd Hong Kong Dragon Boat Short Course Races”

The 23rd Hong Kong Dragon Boat Short Course Races was held on 30 Jun 2024 in Hong Kong. UM Dragon Boat Team sent 18 members to participate in the category of Post-Secondary Division and won the championship at last. All team members demonstrated outstanding performance and sportsmanship in the competition.

There are a total of 10 teams namely

UM Dragon Boat Team won the 8th Straight Champion and Broke the Record of Macao University Student Small Dragon Boat Race at “2024 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races”

The “2024 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races” was held from 8 to 10 Jun.  It was organized by Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government, SJM Resorts, S.A. and Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, co-organized by Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau of Macao SAR Government. This year, UM Dragon Boat Team participated in 3 categories:

  • Macao University Student Small Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 200m (Champion, broke record: 49″481)
  • Macao Standard Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 500m
  • Macao University Student Invitation Standard Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 500m (6th place)

UM Team won the champion at the Macao University Student Small Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 200m and this is the 8th consecutive year that Dragon Boat Team has won the champion at this competition. At the same time, the UM dragon boat team broke the “Macao University Student Small Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 200m” record with 49.481 seconds.

UM Dragon Boat Team got the 2 silvers and fourth place (second prize) at “2024 International Elite Universities Water Sports Open”

The “2024 International Elite Universities Water Sports Open” was held on 30 May – 2 Jun at Hangzhou. Organised by Zhejiang University and Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture Radio Television and Tourism, the event attracted 25 teams from world-renowned universities at home and abroad, including Harvard University, Yale University, University of California (Berkeley), University of Cambridge, Nanyang Technological University, University of Tokyo, Yonsei University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Macau, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology of China, Shandong University, Hangzhou Dianzi University, Huzhou University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang University of Science & Technology, Zhejiang Agriculture & Forestry University, Zhejiang Ocean University.

Twelve members of the UM Dragon Boat Team took part in the competition. Cheong Sin Yi(FED) finished second in women’s kayak single 200m. Cheong Sin Yi and Chan Kuan Io(FBA/HFPJC) took the second place in mixed kayak double 200m. The team also won the fourth place (second prize) in the dragon boat 12-atheletes 200m race.  In addition, UM students and faculty engaged in a science outreach activity during the event and discussed the youth & water sports conference with other participants.
