UM Dragon Boat Team won 2 Golds & 1 Bronze Medals at the “2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races” and 9th Straight Champion in the “Macao University Students Small Dragon Boat Race – Open Category”

The “2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races” was held from 24 to 31 May.  It was organized by Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government, SJM Resorts, S.A. and Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, co-organized by Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau of Macao SAR Government. This year, UM Dragon Boat Team sent 29 students to participate in 3 categories (Macao University Student Small Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 200m, Macao Standard Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 500m, Macao University Student Invitation Standard Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 500m)and won 3 medals (2 golds and 1 bronze) in this competition, the results are as follows:

Competition Results:

  • Macao University Student Small Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 200m (UM Dragon Boat Team A – Champion)
  • Macao University Student Small Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 200m (UM Dragon Boat Team B – 3rd place)
  • Macao Standard Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 500m– B (Champion)

UM Dragon Boat Team  will compete in the “Macao University Student Invitation Standard Dragon Boat Race – Open Category – 500m” on 31 May. Let’s wish them continued success in their upcoming races!

2025 Macao Student Jump Rope Carnival, organized by Macao Rope Skipping Sport Promotion General Association, was held on 25 May in Macau. UM has sent 10 students to participate in the individual event. Finally, 10 students got 5 golds medal and excellence award.

The “2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races” (organized by Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government, SJM Resorts, S.A. and Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, co-organized by Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau of Macao SAR Government.) will be held on 24, 25 & 31 May at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre (南灣湖水上活動中心).

UM Dragon Boat Team participated in the “2025 Macau University Dragon Boat Blessing Ceremony”
 

To promote traditional culture and foster exchange and cooperation among higher education institutions, the Macau Student Affairs Association 澳門學生事務協會 (MSAA) organized the “2025 Macau University Dragon Boat Blessing Ceremony” for the first time at the Nam Van Lake Water Sports Centre on 26 April. 

5 higher education institutes will be participating in the “Macau Dragon Boat Race 澳門國際龍舟賽” this coming May, namely

  • University of Macau
  • Macao Polytechnic University
  • Macau University of Science and Technology
  • City University of Macau
  • Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau

More than 150 students, faculty members and coaches had participated in the ceremony.

Attended guests included:

  1. Ms. Cen Jiayi, Director of the Higher Education Division of the Education and Youth Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R. (中央政府駐澳門特別行政區聯絡辦公室教育與青年工作部高校處岑嘉儀處長)
  2. Ms. Lei Im Kei, Acting Director of the Department of Students of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region Education and Youth Development Bureau (澳門特別行政區政府教育及青年發展局學生廳李艷琪代廳長)
  3. Mr. Chen Kai Feng, Director of the Sports Association Support Division of the Sports Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government (澳門特別行政區政府體育局體育社團輔助處陳凱風處長)

  2. Prof. Leong Man Wai, Assistant Vice-President of Macau University of Science and Technology (澳門科技大學梁文慧協理副校長)
  3. Prof. Ng San Fan, Dean of Macao Polytechnic University (澳門理工大學吳新凡院長)
  4. Ms. Lei Wei In, Executive Officer of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (澳門鏡湖護理學院李衛燕主任)
  5. Mr. Chang Ka Hei from the Student Affairs Office of City University of Macau (澳門城市大學學生事務處張嘉熙先生)
  6. Ms. Wong Ka Weng, President of the Macau Student Affairs Association (澳門學生事務協會黃嘉穎會長)

The event featured traditional rituals such as incense offering, eye-dotting, and sprinkling of “dragon head grass,” symbolizing blessings and high hopes from all sectors of society for the dragon boat sport. Subsequently, the participating athletes launched the dragon boats into the water amid an enthusiastic atmosphere, showcasing the youthful energy and team spirit of Macao’s higher education athletes.

The successful hosting of this Dragon Boat Launching Ceremony marks the active exploration and breakthroughs of Macau’s higher education institutions in sports activities, boosting morale for the upcoming Macau International Dragon Boat Races. It is hoped that in the coming season, UM Dragon Boat will perform exceptionally well in the competition and strive for outstanding achievements.

UM Dragon Boat Team Fun Day was successfully held

The UM Dragon Boat Fun Day was held successfully on 29 Mar 2025 at UM Sports Complex (N8) and there was a total of 103 UM students participating in this activity.

Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) organized the sports team Fun Day with the aim to let UM students to interact with the university team members and to experience team training through designated games.

In order to let the participants to know better about our UM Dragon Boat Team, beside introducing each team members, the team history and past achievements were also being presented. And in order to let participants to have a better understanding of this sport, the basic dragon boat rules and regulations were being introduced through instructional videos. After that, all participants experienced different kinds of training and game.

Both the participants and dragon boat team members enjoyed a lot in the Fun Day with positive feedback.

Students who attend the WHOLE activity and arrive ON TIME will be given 1 PE hour (late arrival, early leave or leave the venue during the competition for over 10 minutes will NOT be given PE hour).

*同學進場和離場時,必須出示學生證作登記;出席的學生必須與登記的學生姓名一樣。

Students are required to do check in/out with UM student ID card, the name of the attended student MUST be the same as the registered name.

Train the Trainer Programme (T.T.T.) – “Integration of Physical and Moral Education: Fitness Assessors Course” was held successfully

Train the Trainer Programme (T.T.T.) – “Integration of Physical and Moral Education: Fitness Assessors Course” was held successfully on 1 Mar 2025 by Office of Sports Affairs and Macau China Society of Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy.

There were 30 students participated in the training course. They were taught with various sports training knowledge and skills especially in the field of moral and fitness assessments. Students have been arranged to assist with fitness assessments for UM Sports Teams as their practical sessions of the course.

Integration of Physical and Moral Education: Fitness Assessors Course

Training Course Arrangement:

Introduction:
The certificate course (co-organized by Office of Sports Affairs and Macau China Society of Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy) aims to provide opportunities for aspiring UM students to learn and assist in various sports training through the internship as a student coach. Participants could gain more skills, experience, knowledge and develop their ability in the field of moral and fitness assessment through this course.

The objective of organizing the “Integration of Physical and Moral Education: Fitness Assessors Course” is to reinforce the competitiveness and enhance physical & health knowledge for the student, who would like to extend their interest to the profession.

Course Content:
  • Integrate moral education into physical fitness and promote related evaluation & Assessment (4 hours)
  • Internship (6 hours)
