Showing genuine enthusiasm for your field in your personal statement is crucial. It will set you apart from other applicants and convince the admissions committee of your commitment. Here’s how to effectively communicate your passion:

Share specific moments or experiences that sparked your interest in the field and influenced your career choice. For example, describe a volunteer experience at a local health clinic that sparked your interest in public health and how it exposed you to healthcare disparities and fuelled your desire to contribute to the field.

Highlight activities that demonstrate continued involvement in your field. This could include attending conferences, or being an active member of relevant organisations. For example, mention how attending the annual environmental science conference broadened your understanding of sustainable practices and motivated you to start a recycling initiative on your campus.

Illustrate your passion with specific examples.
