Designed to inspire the next generation of global leaders, Schwarzman Scholars was officially launched in April 2013, and Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University was formally established in October 2015.

The programme aims to build global network of dynamic leaders who will establish stronger relationships between China and a rapidly changing world and address the most pressing challenges of the 21st century. Scholars will serve as pioneers for Chinese and global higher education innovation.

Scholars chosen annually for this highly selective programme will earn a master’s degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s most prestigious universities. Scholars are selected from around the world on the basis of their demonstrated leadership abilities as well as their academic aptitude, intellectual ability and exemplary character.

香港科技大學（廣州）是一所經國家教育部批准設立的內地與香港合作大學，是《粵港澳大灣區發展規劃綱要》及《廣州南沙深化面向世界的粵港澳全面合作總體方案》頒布實施以來成立的首個內地和香港合作舉辦大學，於2022年6月正式成立。香港科技大學（廣州）銳意創新，以發展融合學科為特色，探索創新人才培養模式，以建設成為內地與香港教育融合發展的典範、國際知名的高水平大學為己任，致力於培養面向未來的高水平創新型人才。

Formally established in June 2022, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”. With a spirit of pioneering innovation, HKUST(GZ) charts new territories in cross-disciplinary education and explores new frontiers in pedagogies, aiming to serve as a role model of the mainland-Hong Kong integrated educational development and become a world-famous high-level university, endeavoring to nurture future-oriented, high-level and innovative talents.
In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “School” and “Department”, facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. 此次外地研究生課程簡介會將邀請到香港科技大學（廣州）代表，向各位同學介紹以下兩個研究生項目：

紅鳥碩士項目是香港科技大學（廣州）為實現培養＂複合型創新創業人才＂的目標而設計的哲學碩士項目。該項目通過引導學習探索以學生為中心的跨學科教育範式，為未來戰略工程師和科學家發現自我、釋放潛能、不斷提升能力創造最佳成長環境。學生在進行6個月的自主學術探索後，通過與老師的雙向選擇，確定學術導師，並確認最終樞紐及學域。學生與各樞紐及學域學術導師、業界導師和項目導師共同完成團隊項目和教學任務，共同探索、開拓，並推進相關研究。

科技與政策理學碩士［MSc (TP)］是一個兩年全日制以科技與政策為主導的研究生學位培養項目，是香港科技大學（廣州）社會樞紐下的創新創業與公共政策學域開設的第一個授課型碩士項目。該項目旨在幫助學生全面提升職業能力。在許多領域，公共政策在塑造發展、應用和市場方面發揮著根本性作用。我們致力於培養學生，使他們具備技術領域的前沿知識，成為政府、企業和非政府組織的領導者，以制定技術公共政策，引導和培育改變我們社會的技術。

In this Non-local Postgraduate Programme Introduction Session, the representatives of HKUST (GZ) will introduce the following two postgraduate programmes:

The Red Bird MPhil Programme is a Master of Philosophy Programme designed by HKUST (GZ) to achieve the goal of cultivating “Compound innovative and entrepreneurial talents”. The programme explores a student-centered interdisciplinary education paradigm through guided learning, creating an optimal growth environment for future strategic engineers and scientists to discover themselves, unleash their potential, and continuously improve their abilities. Based on HKUST(GZ)’s cross-disciplinary philosophy, RBM has no limitations on majors for entrance, which is distinct from the traditional model based on disciplinary divisions. Students’ Hub and Thrust Area are determined after six months through a mutual selection process between students and academic supervisors.

The Master of Science in Technology and Policy (MSc (TP)) programme is a 2-year full-time taught postgraduate programme offered by Innovation, Policy and Entrepreneurship Thrust, Society Hub, HKUST(GZ). We seek to train students and equip them with cutting-edge knowledge in technology sectors and bridge the divide between industries and government. The rigorous two-year programme will provide skill-based training in the uses of analytic methods for public policy and the development of expertise in best policy practices, comparable to MSc (TP) degrees offered by leading universities in Europe, the United States. This will be the first programme in Greater China that offers a Master’s programme focusing on technology and policy. Students will acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be leaders in government, business, and NGOs to shape public policies of technology, to guide and nurture technologies that change our society.

We welcome you to join the Career Lounge and meet with our Career Development Associates! We are certified Global Career Development Facilitators (GCDF), Board Certified Coaches for Career (BCC), and NCDA Career Development Advisors (CDA).

Through one-on-one consultations, we will assist you in:

  • Exploring your career interests, values, and skills

【Career Assessment Workshop】Discovering Your Occupational Interests (Application Deadline: 5 March)

生涯發展中心將於本學期舉行兩個工作坊協助同學做自我探索，為生涯規劃做準備。由於兩個工作坊的目的相同，有興趣參與的同學只需要參加其中一個工作坊即可。詳情如下：

主題一: 職業興趣探索工作坊
日期 3月12日 (星期三)
時間 14:30 – 16:00 (1.5小時)
地點 中央教學樓 (具體地點將以電郵方式通知報名者)
語言 普通話
內容 透過自我探索活動和實用的生涯興趣測評工具，了解以下：

  • 進一步了解自己的職業興趣
  • 瞭解不同行業的職業特點
  • 認清未來職業選擇中可能面臨的挑戰
報名日期及注意事項 即日起至3月5日（額滿即止）

  • 本中心將在截止報名後 (即3月5日後)以電郵方式給報名者發送工作坊地點及興趣測評資料，敬請按電郵指示在指定時間內完成網上測評，以便本中心能於活動當日派發測評報告予參加者。
主題二: 生涯發展探索工作坊
日期 4月9日 (星期三)
時間 14:30 – 17:30 (3小時)

內容 1. 透過 Big Five Model 測試，從而了解自己的人格特質；
2. 透過使用卡片工具，釐清以下三個與生涯規劃息息相關的要素

The Career Development Centre is organizing two workshops this semester to help students to explore themselves and prepare for career planning. As the objectives of these two workshops are the same, we suggest that interested students attend only one of the workshops. Details are as follows:

Topic 1: Discovering Your Occupational Interests
Date 12 March 2025 (Wednesday)
Time 14:30 – 16:00 (1.5 hours)
Venue Central Teaching Building (We will email the location of the workshop to the applicants.)
Language Mandarin
Contents Through various activities and a practical occupational assessment, participants can further explore and understand:

  • Occupational interests,
  • Characteristics of various occupations, and
  • Potential challenges related to future career choices and development
Application Period and Notes From now until 5 March 2025 (first-come-first-served basis)

  • After the closing date of application (i.e. after 5 March), we will send the workshop venue and interest assessment information to the applicants by email. Please follow the instructions in the email to complete the online assessment within the specified time, so that we can distribute the assessment report to the participants on the day of the activity.
Topic 2: Navigating Your Career Direction
Date 9 April 2025 (Wednesday)
Time 14:30 – 17:30 (3 hours)
Venue Central Teaching Building (We will email the location of the workshop to the applicants.)
Language Mandarin
Content 1. Complete the Big Five Model, which will help you to understand your personality better; 
2. Using the card sorting tool, explore the following 3 factors that are closely related to career planning,

  • Motivated Skills
  • Career Interest
Application Period From now until 6 April 2025 (first-come-first-served basis)

  1. As the objectives of these two workshops are the same, we suggest that interested students attend only one of the above workshops.
  2. Please select the workshop you wish to attend correctly, no changes will be allowed once the application form has been submitted.
  3. Please make sure you can attend the workshop before registration. Once registered, students who are absent or unable to attend the entire workshop will receive an e-debit note issued by the University. Please settle the payment before the deadline.
  4. Students who attend the entire workshop do not need to pay the administration fee.

 

The workshops will count towards the Global Competitiveness area of the Whole Person Development Award Programme and Smart Point Scheme. Students who attend the entire workshop are eligible to receive “CS” and “SP”.
