To promote continuous and lifelong learning and education in Macao, the University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) is going to hold the following training courses in May:

CCE, BRTC and DSEDJ jointly organized the National and Regional Training under Macao Youth Professional Development Programme – Enhancement of Comprehensive of Management of Excellence Youth in Local Enterprises

In order to gather the strength between enterprises in Macao and mainland institutions, create an atmosphere to jointly promote the professional development of the youth, provide opportunities for professional growth for the Macao youth, and actively help young people integrate into the overall development of the country, the DSEDJ continues to carry out the Macao Youth Professional Development Programme. Ten companies were invited to participate in the programme this year, and 30 outstanding young employees in Macao were selected and recommended by the companies to participate.

The Macao Youth Professional Development Programme has 3 phases, which includes National and Regional Training, on-the-job learning as well as advanced training and field trips to Mainland. The first phase has been carried out and it is in a full-time manner and jointly organized by the DSEDJ, CCE, and BRTC of the FBA. The training content includes The role and positioning of Macao in Sino-Portuguese relations, The relationship between the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone and the moderate diversification of Macao’s economy, “1+4” development and view, Big Data and Management, Crisis Management and Media Public Relations Response, Comparison of Traditional and Emerging Industries in Macao and Macao’s Positioning in the Greater Bay Area – Integration and Development and visiting to SKL-IOTSC,  ZUMRI and Digifluidic Bio-tech Co., Ltd. in Hengqin.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr. Wong, Deputy Director of the DSEDJ, Dr. Xu, Vice Rector of UM, and Professor Matthew Liu, Director of the CCE and Director of the BRTC of the Faculty of Business Administration. Mr. Wong encouraged the trainees to continue to work hard, to display their talents on the broad stage of life in the future, and to become a construction force for the country and society. Dr. Xu said that UM will fully support the training of local youths, and encourages the trainees to continue their studies and give back their knowledge to the country and society.

After trainees complete the first phase of national and regional training, the invited companies will arrange trainees to different regions or other countries such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (including the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone) to have on-the-job training in order to gain opportunities for professional improvement and practice. The DSEDJ will continue to carry out other activities of the 2023-2024 Macao Youth Professional Development Programme. CCE is continuing to cooperate with various companies in the future, to provide professional development programmes and trainings for working young people, and we strive to cultivate a generation of talented and responsible young individuals who posses ideals, capabilities, and responsible, rooted in Macao, connected to the motherland, and globally minded.

CCE organized a course of “Teaching and Practices of Fitness Games for Young Children” for Education and Youth Development Bureau

CCE organized a course of “Teaching and Practices of Fitness Games for Young Children” for Education and Youth Development Bureau in December, with a total of 9 hours. More than 20 participants join in this course; they are kindergarten teachers from many schools in Macao.

The course combined with theories and demonstrations. After taking the course, the participants knew more physical developments at different stages and types of fitness games about children. Therefore, the participants can design the fitness games appropriately according to children’s development. The course had been successfully completed with great recognition. Positive feedbacks were received from the participants.

CCE continues to provide training courses for Education and Youth Development Bureau to promote the sustainable development of teaching staff in teaching and non-teaching fields.

CCE completes Subsidized Training Scheme

In line with the series of financial aid measures launched by the Macao SAR government during the epidemic, CCE has jointly organized and implemented the “Skills-Oriented Subsidized Training Scheme” with DSAL that provided a temporary support measure in response to the epidemic in September 2020. A total of 34 rounds of enrollment have been launched, with more than 80 classes and more than 4,000 quotas provided. CCE has launched different courses based on market demand, including business management, accounting management, retail promotion and promotion management, hotel and resort management practices, catering management, workplace skills, etc. over three years.

During the implementation of the scheme, CCE has cooperated with the DSAL to optimize the plan, including increasing the number of participants, expanding the applicable targets, relaxing the application requirements, and accelerating the payment of subsidies to qualified students, so as to benefit more people affected by the epidemic. Overall economic and employment environment has improved now, the government has recently announced that enrollment for the entire program will be completed after the fourth quarter of this year.  As of December 2023, a total of 17 classes have been successfully launched, and 240 students have successfully received subsidies and graduation certificates. Business management and workplace skills courses are the most popular among all courses.

CCE has been actively cooperating with the needs of government and the society, providing various professional and vocational training to residents for the implementation of Macao’s economic “1+4” goal development.

CCE organised Designated Training Course on Humanities and Social Sciences for students of Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College

CCE organised Designated Training Course on Humanities and Social Sciences for students of Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College during 4th to 5th December.

The two-day training covered topics lectured by UM professors, such as Crisis Management, as well as Cross-cultural Communication and Global Perspective. The students also visited UM Wu Yee Sun Library and UM Gallery. Positive feedbacks were received from the students. 

Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College is a national college of practical education and innovation and entrepreneurship base, national cross-border e-commerce talent training demonstration school, high-level vocational school construction unit,  quality vocational college,  entrepreneurial university construction pilot college, innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration base of Zhejiang province.

CCE continues to carry out high-quality training courses to strengthen educational cooperation between UM and universities in mainland.

CCE completes twenty first-phase subsidised training course

The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and the Labour Affairs Bureau jointly held another subsidised skill-oriented training course, which was a 40-hour course in Retail Promotion Management. The course was designed to help participants learn practices in retail management and promotional skills in industry and to enhance their professional competencies. Those who have completed the entire course and have passed the examination will each receive a certificate from CCE.
