FAH-ELC ECAC Student Activity: “Presentation Techniques – PECHAKUCHA” (March 8 & 15, Wed)

Dear UM Students,

The English Co-Curricular Activities Committee (ECAC), English Language Centre (ELC) of FAH, invites you to the ‘Presentation Techniques – PECHAKUCHA’ hosted by Dr. Jean-Paul Duquette, Senior Instructor of English.

 

Through this workshop, students will learn and perform a Pechakucha style timed powerpoint presentation. They will also practice public speaking using English and improve their powerpoint presentations.

 

This is a 2-session workshop.

In the first session, students will use the Internet to quickly create a Pechakucha-style PPT based on an interest of event in their lives. 

In the second session, students will perform their Pechakucha timed PPT presentation and get additional tips to make their presentations more effective.

 

Dates: 8 & 15 March 2023

Time:  19:00 to 20:30

FAH-ELC ECAC Student Activity: “Learning Styles – VARK” (Feb 22, Wed)

Dear UM Students, 

The English Co-Curricular Activities Committee (ECAC), English Language Centre (ELC) of FAH, invites you to the ‘Learning Styles: VARK’ hosted by Mr. Mark Wong, Senior Instructor of English. 

The workshop will be held on 22 February 2023 (Wednesday), from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. Venue: E3-1032.

Through this workshop, students will come to an understanding of their learning styles and preferences.  Suggestions will be shared on how to help students make the most of their learning preferences and have a good and memorable learning experience at university.

FAH-ELC ECAC Student Activity: “Communicate with Self Portraits” (Feb 15, Wed)

Dear UM Students, 

The English Co-Curricular Activities Committee (ECAC), English Language Centre (ELC) of FAH, is inviting you to “Communicate with Self Portraits” workshop (Session 2).

  • Learn contemporary and historical photographic trends.
  • Practice English to critique photos with the correct terminologies.
  • Employ effective techniques in photography including composition, lighting, colour and image quality.

The first session was already successfully held on the 8th of February, 2023. In the second session (15th Feb), students will share their own photographs with the class and discuss how successful they were in communicating their own ideas and feelings.  Students will employ effective techniques of photographic execution.

Dear UM Students, 

The English Co-Curricular Activities Committee (ECAC), English Language Centre (ELC) of FAH, is inviting you to “Communicate with Self Portraits” workshop.

  • Learn contemporary and historical photographic trends.
  • Practice English to critique photos with the correct terminologies.
  • Employ effective techniques in photography including composition, lighting, colour and image quality.

This is a 2-session workshop where students will develop an understanding of the use of English related to contemporary and historical photographic trends. 

In the first session, students will consider the grammar and vocabulary of photography (i.e. color, composition, camera functions and movement) and analyze how famous photographers have used these to communicate ideas and feelings.

In the second session, students will share their own photographs with the class and discuss how successful they were in communicating their own ideas and feelings.  Students will employ effective techniques of photographic execution.  It is highly suggested to complete the 2 workshops for better results.
