Our newsletter aims to share a vital source of information, keeping you updated on the latest developments, achievements, and events at the Institute. Each issue will feature a range of content, including Research Highlights, Teaching and Students Affairs, Community News, News and Events, and Upcoming Events, etc.

Recruitment of Student Trainees for IAPME (Application Deadline: 2024/04/19)

The Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME) is now recruiting student trainees for general tasks.

Responsibilities:
– Provide support to general counter services;
– Perform general clerical work;
– Assist in event coordination;
– Assist with poster design or other graphics;
– Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
– Year 1 or 2 students are preferred;
– Good command of English and Chinese;
– Good knowledge of Microsoft Office;
– Punctual, responsible, proactive and detail-oriented.

Stipend and Working Hours:
– Hourly rate: MOP 48 per hour
– Regular working timeslots for student trainees: Monday to Friday
   > Morning session: 10:00-13:00 (3 hours)
   > Afternoon session: 14:00-17:30 (3.5 hours)
– Able to work from May 2024 or summertime will be prioritized for consideration

In recognition of elites from all walks of life who have made outstanding contributions to society, the University of Macau confers honorary degrees on well-known scholars in different fields and outstanding leaders in different industries every year, and invites the recipients to give speeches. We are honoured to have Prof. Shuji Nakamura, Doctor of Science honoris causa of the University of Macau, 2020; 2014 Nobel Laureate in Physics, currently the Research Director of Solid State Lighting and Energy Electronics Center, Cree Professor in Solid State Lighting and Display, University of California, Santa Barbara, be our speaker of the forthcoming UM Doctor honoris causa Lecture. 

In this lecture, Prof. Nakamura will speak on the topic “Background Story and Development of High Efficiency Blue InGaN LEDs and Laser Diodes”. He will share his unique insights and story on the High Efficiency Blue InGaN LEDs and Laser Diodes.
