Since August 2024, Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College (HFPJC)staff and students have worked together to launch a year-long charity sale series. Through events such as a Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake sale, a booth at the University of Macau Open Day, a Lunar New Year handmade crafts sale, and charity craft workshops, a total of MOP 9,480 and RMB 2,204.9 (including donations from generous supporters) was raised. After verification by the College’s non-residential fellow and deduction of necessary costs, all proceeds will be donated to Bailing Town Second Primary School in Xiushui, Jiangxi, to improve the local learning environment.
The charity sale series was planned by a 15-member student organizing committee, who, under the guidance of Resident Fellow, successfully hosted four charity sales and four craft workshops, attracting over 70 participants to create handmade items. By creatively integrating charity with traditional festivals such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year, the staff and students celebrated while sending warmth to children in need. The initiative also received strong support from non-residential fellow Prof. Ho Ying, who not only guided the College’s knitting Interest Club but also donated several exquisite hand-knitted pieces for sale, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the fundraising efforts.
Luo Zihan, a third-year student at the Faculty of Business Administration and a member of the organizing committee, shared: “Through the craft workshops and campus charity sales, we not only raised funds but also collected heartfelt blessings from college students for the children. Every act of kindness adds up to create a great impact. We hope to bring them warmth and support!”
Since 2014, HFPJC has conducted annual service-learning trips to remote areas in mainland China, providing voluntary teaching services for underprivileged children. In 2024, the College team visited Bailing Town Second Primary School in Xiushui, Jiangxi, forming deep bonds with the local children. To continue this care, the College staff and students organized this charity sale to turn their compassion into action. In May 2025, the College’s service-learning team will revisit the school to provide voluntary teaching and follow up on the use of the funds, ensuring that the resources are effectively used to improve the children’s learning environment.
