Five Cheng Yu Tung College Students Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Summer Internship Program

Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) is dedicated to enriching students’ educational experiences, not only through their college life but also by providing opportunities for summer internships. Since 2015, CYTC has partnered with Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Company Limited (CTF), a company founded by CYTC’s donor, to offer these internships. This year marks the 9th year of this partnership, with the internship lasting for one and a half months. After interviews conducted by CTF’s Human Resources team, five students were selected: Jiao Ruofan, Liu Zimeng, Gan Yichun, Huang Binyi, and Tan Qingwen. The internship took place from July 1 to August 16, 2024.

On July 16, College Master, Prof. Wong Seng Fat and College Fellow Ms. Lu Ching-Hui visited CTF’s headquarters in Shenzhen, where they met with Mr. Gan Quan, the HR General Manager, and other HR colleagues to understand the interns’ work progress. CYTC appreciates the internship opportunities provided by CTF, which exemplifies the company’s commitment to social responsibility and nurturing the next generation. This year’s internship program included 21 university students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, fostering cross-regional learning and exchange.

The interns reported that the internship helped them grasp the importance of communication and departmental tasks, as well as how the organization operates. Jiao Ruofan, a senior Accounting student, mentioned, “I learned how to interact with supervisors and colleagues effectively and realized that while the school provides clear rules and expectations, the workplace requires timely communication and work adjustments with supervisors, which is crucial for successful outcomes.”

This internship program has enhanced students’ global competitiveness, knowledge integration, and teamwork skills. As one of the companies founded by CYTC’s donor Cheng Yu Tung, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group provided valuable internship opportunities for CYTC students, deepening their understanding of the donor and further strengthening the educational value of the residential colleges.

五位鄭裕彤書院院生完成周大福珠寶集團暑期實習計畫

鄭裕彤書院致力於豐富學生的學習經驗，除了書院生活的學習外，也提供暑假實習的機會。自2015年起，書院與周大福珠寶集團（CTF）合作，為書院學生提供實習機會。今年是合作的第9年，實習時間為一個半月。經過周大福人力資源部門主管的面試，共選出5位院生：焦若凡、劉梓萌、甘以醇、黃彬怡和譚晴文。此次實習的日期為7月1日至8月16日。

書院代院長黃承發教授及書院導師呂靜慧老師於7月16日拜訪了周大福深圳總部，與周大福人力資源總經理甘泉先生及人力資源部門同事會面，並了解實習生的工作情況。書院感謝周大福公司提供的實習機會，充分體現了企業的社會責任，並致力於培養新一代。實習項目吸引了來自內地、香港及澳門的21位大學生一同學習交流。

實習院生反饋指出，通過實習他們不僅了解了集團的運作，也更深刻體會部門分工和溝通的重要性。大四會計系的焦若凡同學提到：“我學到了如何與職場上的上級和前輩打交道，並且了解到在學校學習的規則和要求較為明確，而工作中需要及時與上級溝通內容和調整進程方向，這對工作產出至關重要。”

實習計劃增進了同學們的全球競爭力、知識整合能力和團隊協作能力。作為書院捐贈者鄭裕彤先生旗下的企業，周大福珠寶集團為書院學生提供了寶貴的實習機會，使他們對捐贈者有了更深的了解，進一步鞏固了書院教育的功能與價值。

Entrepreneurial Activity “Startup Weekday”

鼓勵大學生投身創業，探索產業學研深度結合新模式。澳門大學鄭裕彤書院與香港理工大學應用物理科學系開展合辦創業營「我的初創時代」，由鄭裕彤書院十二位院生及應用物理科學系六名學生共同參與，共十八名學生分為五組，以比賽形式進行活動，本次活動事先準備好五個具發展潛力的創業項目，分配給學生以組成五隊初創隊伍相互競爭，並由鄭裕彤書院具創業項目經驗的學長曾梓萱、譚佩詩、付昊明、唐敏、劉泳兒及黃心玥共六位分組指導， 以“創業項目+團隊”為導向，為學生們提供“情景體驗式”的創業培訓，從而激發學生的創業熱情、培養創業所需的相關能力。五隊初創團隊歷經三天兩夜的創業營以及兩個月的項目完善期後，於8月26日在香港理工大學的總決賽中角逐冠亞軍。

最終，在現場商業精英、投資人、大學教授的專業點評下，由鄭裕彤書院院生李雨霏 、曾戈 及應用物理科學系學生彭海盈的初創團隊「BEING」奪得冠軍及現金獎港元4000，團隊項目「BEING-煙頭回收」致力於探索從煙頭中提取尼古丁及茄尼醇的方法及商業配套模式，製成粗品以連接相應製藥產業，在保護環境的同時深度挖掘廢棄煙頭中的經濟價值。由鄭裕彤書院院生張雲哲、陳穎 及劉靜宇的初創團隊「黑桃K-麥芽電芯」奪得亞軍及現金獎港元2000，團隊聚焦當前熱門的電池產業，探索使用麥芽渣作為原材料，生產硬碳作為電池負極的技術及商業化可行性。

活動結束後，多個活動中的初創團隊選擇繼續推進項目方案，參與更多創業比賽，投身創業領域。

To encourage students to engage in entrepreneurship and explore a new model of industry-university-research cooperation, Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) of the University of Macau and the Department of Applied Physics of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) jointly launched an entrepreneurial activity “Startup Weekday”. Twelve students from Cheng Yu Tung College and six students from the Department of Applied Physics of PolyU participated in the competition. Eighteen students were divided into five start-up teams. This activity has prepared five potential entrepreneurial projects in advance, and assigned these projects to five start-up teams that compete with each other. 6 CYTC mentors with start-up experience namely Chan Zi Xuan, Tam Pui Si, Fu Haoming, Tong Man, Liu Yonger and Wong Sam Ut were preassigned to guide each group to develop their project. This model provide students with the “contextual experience” of starting a business, to stimulate students’ enthusiasm and cultivate the relevant abilities required for entrepreneurship. After three days and two night of entrepreneurship camp and two months of project development, five start-up teams competed for first and second place in the finals that were held at Hong Kong Polytechnic University on August 26.

Finally, under the on-site professional comments of business elites, investors, and  professors, the team “BEING” consisted of Li Yufei, Zeng Ge, and Pang Hoi Ying  won the first prize and a cash award of 4,000 HKD. The team project “BEING-Cigarette Butt Recycling” is committed to exploring the methods and commercial models of extracting nicotine and solanesol from cigarette butts, making crude products provided to the corresponding pharmaceutical industry, and deeply digging the economic value of discarded cigarette butts while protecting the environment. The team “King of Spades” consisted of Zhang Yunzhe, Chen Ying, and Liu Jingyu won the second prize and a cash award of 2000 HKD, which focuses on the popular battery industry, exploring the technical and commercial feasibility of using brewer spent grain as raw material to produce hard carbon as battery-negative electrodes.

After the activity, some start-up teams decided to continue to proceed with the project plan, targeting at participating various entrepreneurial competitions and devoting themselves to the entrepreneurial field.

Cheng Yu Tung College Held its 10th Anniversary Kickoff Ceremony

         Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) successfully held its 10th College anniversary kickoff ceremony and singing competition, “The Voice of DAYA,” in the evening of March 13, 2023. Around 250 audience members participated in this meaningful event and enjoyed the night together at the Theatre of E31.

         Led by VRSA, Prof. Mok Kai Meng, and College Interim Master, Prof. Wong Seng Fat, along with College Senior Fellows, Prof. Lam Long Wai and Prof. Xu Ren He, College Associate Master, Dr. Gong Yingxue, College Fellows Ms. Diane Lu and Dr. Tang Yuming, Functional Head, Mr. Simon Lok, and two student leader representatives, Ms. Chan Zixuan and Ms. Huang Siying, held a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the 10th anniversary celebration. A special thanks shall be given to all the College Fellows, College Affiliates, and College alumni who showed support that night.  

     College celebrates its 10th anniversary. Prof. Chung Ling, the College’s Founding Master, inscribed the slogan “Elegance is embedded in its residents for a lifetime”. CYTC was established in 2013, and now the College is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a number of events, one of which was the singing competition. The following events will be the 10th retrospective exhibition, High Table Dinner, College Commencement Ceremony, College Alumni Day, Service-Learning program, and so on.

 

         鄭裕彤書院於2023年3月13日成功舉辦十周年書院院慶啟動儀式及大雅好聲音歌唱比賽決賽，是次活動大約有250位觀眾出席，大家一同度過愉快且有意義的一晚。

          當天晚上由學生事務副校長莫啟明副校及鄭裕彤書院代院長黃承發教授帶領，資深書院導師林朗為教授和徐仁和教授、書院副院長龔映雪博士、兩位書院導師呂靜慧老師及鄧宇明博士、書院事務主管駱進偉先生以及兩位學生領袖代表曾梓萱和黃思晴等共十位一起進行剪綵儀式，為書院十周年院慶活動揭開序幕，於此也特別感謝書院導師、書院教員和畢業院友到場支持!

         「書院十年，大雅一生」此八字由創院院長鍾玲教授所題，鄭裕彤書院創立於2013年，今年已邁入第十年，大雅好聲音比賽作為十周年活動之一，後續計有十周年照片回顧展、高桌晚宴、書院結業典禮、書院院友回娘家、書院服務學習項目等活動。
