2025 Academic Summer Camp is now open for registration
1. Introduction of Faculty of Business Administration
The Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Macau is a long-established comprehensive business school that has been internationally recognized in the fields of teaching, research and social enterprise cooperation, and has Asian regional characteristics. The University of Macau is located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, one of the most economically mature regions in China and one of the most prosperous regions in Asia. As a flagship business school focusing on business and management education, we aim to cultivate leaders and management talents for the development of Macau and the surrounding regions. The professors of our school are all selected from around the world. Many of them are internationally renowned scholars with rich experience in guiding master’s and doctoral students.
2. Introduction of Summer Camp
Event date: 13-16 July 2025
Itinerary: Students participating in the summer camp will earn an in-depth understanding of the college’s department settings and master’s and doctoral programs; discuss cutting-edge scientific research projects face-to-face with well-known professors; also share and communicate with current graduate students. Campers will work as a team to participate in scientific research projects and make reports. Campers will also visit the school and college’s teaching and research facilities, and experience accommodation at the UM Residential College.

* Outstanding campers will be given priority in master’s or doctoral admissions.
3. Application Requirements
This event is open to students whom are planning to enroll in the Master’s or Doctoral programs of the Faculty of Business Administration in the fall semester of 2026. Senior undergraduates and postgraduates, as well as graduating or past graduates from renowned domestic and foreign universities are welcome to apply.
* Application for this summer camp does not require recommendation from an undergraduate institution.

5. Expenses:
There is no registration fee for this summer camp. Faculty of Business Administration will provide campers with free on-campus accommodation and some meals.

The Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Macau successfully held the 2024 Summer Camp
The Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) of the University of Macau (UM) successfully held the “2024 Summer Camp for Outstanding Postgraduate Students and Undergraduate Students” between 21 and 24 July 2024, aiming to continue expanding the influence of our university in the mainland, the Greater Bay Area and beyond, and attracting more outstanding master and doctoral degree students pursuing their postgraduate studies and inspiring their research potential in UM.
This year our summer camp was associated with four main themes namely “Introduction to Departments and Postgraduate Programs”, “Cutting-edge Scientific Research Projects Sharing”, “Visit the Faculty’s Teaching and Research Facilities” and “Alumni/Guest Sharing Session”. We invited the targeted students to come to our campus and experience our teaching, research, learning and living facilities in-person on campus. The study camp kicked off with a welcome speech by Professor Jun YU, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Macau, followed by the introduction of Doctor of Philosophy (Business Administration) degree program from Prof. Susan REN, and department introductions and staffing information from Prof. Philip LAW, Prof. Henry LEI, Prof. Jacky HONG, Prof. Cheris CHOW and Prof. Robin CHARK. The students had a chance to visit FBA’s facilities including the Currency Museum, Thomson Reuters Trading Room, ISCG Laboratory (Mock Casino), Hospitality Laboratory, Café Laboratory, and Mock Hotel Room; and also visited the State Key Laboratory in the Internet of Things for smart city and the Intelligent Supercomputing Center.
We also arranged for students to participate in the sharing activities organized by our various departments. In the “Cutting-edge Scientific Research Projects Sharing”, ten professors from different disciplines introduced their key research projects, and more than 20 professors participated in the research posters sharing session. The areas covered by the research projects included accounting, business analytics, finance, business economics, management, hospitality management, gaming management and etc. In the “Alumni/Guest Sharing Session”, industry executive Ms. Canny HO, the Director of Arts and Culture of MGM; distinguished alumni Mr. Bin WANG, founder of Hestia Robotics; and Dr. Rui CHEN, associate researcher at South China Normal University, were invited to share their experiences in Macao with students including their university study experience, personal career plans and industry development trends.
We received a total of more than 500 applications from bachelor and master students, and even working professionals from well-known universities in the mainland and overseas, and the number of applicants hit a new high. The committee had conducted comprehensive selection and selected a total of more than 40 students to participated in this summer camp. Our participants came from well-known universities around the world, including Peking University, Fudan University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Renmin University, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University, etc. Polytechnic University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Xiamen University, Tongji University, Beijing Normal University, University of Southern California, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea and etc.
Students said after the 4-day summer camp, they learned more about the master’s and doctoral programme in FBA and become very interested in studying at UM. They recognized UM’s international education background, academic status, business engagement and learning environment and looking forward to further their studies in UM.
CHEN Zi Quan, a student from Huazhong University of Science and Technology said that through this summer camp, she has got a better understanding of FBA’s development goals and research prospects and she is confident about her future prospect if she has chosen to study in FBA. She has also suggested to add a sharing session for current PhD students to talk about the application process, selection process, decision making process of our doctoral programmes and also their personal experiences in UM.
ZHANG Xin, a student from Xi’an Jiaotong University said that this summer camp gave her a deeper understanding of the cultivation objectives for the doctorate students and the research directions of the professors, and she is lucky enough to have the opportunity to communicate with professors who have similar research interests to her own. By communicating with current doctoral students, she has learnt more about their study and life experiences at UM, which made her even more hopeful to have an opportunity to study for a doctoral degree at UM.
