Preparation before your Interview

面試前的準備工作

Every interview is a valuable opportunity and good preparation is the key to a successful interview. We have some suggestions for the graduates:

• Learn more about the company and the requirements of the position you are applying for. Although this is often heard or repeated, we are still surprised by the large number of students who don’t know enough about the company before the interview. 
• Practice your self-introduction. This is usually the first question of the interview and is an important part of the employer’s first impression of you. Remember to tell the employer about your strengths and why you are the right person for the job.
• Prepare appropriate formal attire. Although some companies don’t require employees to dress formally for work, but as a job seeker, you should dress formally to show that you are taking the interview seriously.
• Pay attention to your appearance. Male students should shave. Female students should not wear heavy make-up or strong perfume.

每一次面試機會都非常難得，仔細的準備工作是面試成功的關鍵。我們有一些建議可以提供給各位畢業班的同學：

• 詳細了解面試公司的狀況以及應徵工作的要求。這雖然是老生常談，但我們發現有很大一部分同學在面試前對公司的了解並不足夠。
• 好好練習自我介紹。這通常是面試的第一條問題，也是僱主對你的第一印象的重要組成部分。謹記要在自我介紹中闡述自己的優勢以及為何自己是這份工作的合適人選。
• 準備好一套合適的正裝。雖然有些公司並不要求員工著正裝上班，但是作為一位面試者，則需要穿著正裝，因為著正裝能夠體現你對這次面試的重視。
• 注意自己的儀容。男生應該剃鬚，女生則不應該化濃妝，也建議不要使用氣味太過濃烈的香水。

How to avoid being too anxious during an interview?

如何避免在面試中過於緊張?

It is inevitable for a fresh graduate to feel nervous during a job interview. So how to avoid being overly nervous in an interview and letting it affect your performance?

• Be well prepared. If you have a good understanding of the company and the position you are applying for, you will not perform too abnormally even in a nervous situation. 
• Plan in advance what you will wear and how you will get there. Make sure you get enough sleep before the interview.
• Listen carefully to the interviewer’s questions, as this will help you to understand the purpose of the question, so that you feel more confident when answering it.
• Positive thinking: There are too many nervous candidates for the employer to interview. You are just one of them, you only need to perform normally. This attitude will help you to relax during the interview. 

對於準畢業生來說，難免會對面試感到緊張，那麼如何避免在面試中過度緊張而影響你的表現呢？

• 做好準備工作，如果對應聘公司的狀況和應聘的職位了解充分，即使在緊張的狀況下也不會表現得太過失常。

Large companies usually require applicants to apply through the company’s recruitment website, commonly known as “online job applications”, in order to incorporate their information into the job database for further screening. It can be said that for most job seekers the “online job application” is the first step towards their desired position. Therefore, we have collected some tips for online job applications to share with you:

• Allocate Sufficient Time and Effort: Completing an online job application can take several hours. Applying to two companies in one day is considered efficient. Therefore, it is important allow enough time before starting the online job application process.
• Don’t Wait Until the Last Moment to Apply: Allocating sufficient time is crucial. In addition, last-minute applications may be overlooked by employers.
• Pay Attention to the Recruitment Information of the Target Companies: Different companies have different timeframes for online job applications, so it’s important to gather relevant recruitment information from your target companies.
• Be Detail-Oriented when Answering Open-ended Questions: Emphasize facts that demonstrate your skills and provide specific examples to enhance the credibility of your answers.
• Use Concise Language: Be sure to highlight key words that are relevant to the job, such as innovation, vitality, and leadership.

How to write a resume that catches the attention of employers is the goal of every job seeker. Here are some suggestions to help you write a good resume:

• Recall your Work/Internship/Extracurricular Activity Experiences: List all your work, internship, and participation in extracurricular activities on a piece of paper.
• Analyze Experience that Demonstrate your Skills: Carefully analyze each experience to find out what competencies you have demonstrated behind it.  Different experiences may reflect different competencies, so think about how you can describe them in simple language in your resume.
