優秀學者加盟澳門大學

“聚天下英才而用,立時代潮頭而強”,澳門大學通過全球招聘不斷吸納優秀學者,以提高學術水平和學科建設。在2023/2024學年,超過80位不同背景的學術精英加盟澳大,他們都是各自領域的佼佼者,具有國際級的學術水平和教研能力。這些新教員中,既有享譽國際的專家學者,也有澳門和海內外的優秀青年學者,當中不少畢業於世界頂尖的大學,或在一流的學府中積累了豐富的教研經驗,得到學術界和業界的高度評價。

余俊
工商管理學院院長、金融及商業經濟學系講座教授
澳大發展基金會金融及經濟學講座教授
余俊教授是國際知名的金融學計量經濟學專家,主要研究資產定價、金融計量經濟學等領域。他在國際頂級期刊發表近百篇論文,並於2016年入選中國教育部長江學者講座教授。他於加拿大西安大略大學取得哲學博士學位,擁有約25年高等教學及研究經驗,加入澳大前為新加坡管理大學李光前經濟學和金融學教授。他服務新加坡管理大學近20年,曾擔任金融計量經濟研究中心聯合主任及沈基文金融經濟研究院院長,並在2015至2020年以首席研究員的身份主持了新加坡政府資助的重大研究專案(Tier-3 Grant),研究老齡化的經濟學挑戰。他和合作者發明的即時檢查資產泡沫的方法開創性地實現了資產泡沫即時檢驗的可能性,該方法被多國政府使用。他是首批國際金融計量經濟學會會士,並擔任《計量經濟學》和《計量經濟學理論》兩個頂級國際期刊的副主編。余教授現為澳大工商管理學院院長、金融及商業經濟學系講座教授,以及澳大發展基金會金融及經濟學講座教授,希望能帶領澳大工商管理學院在科研、教學和社會服務更進一步。

張文揚
工商管理學院會計及資訊管理學系講座教授
張文揚教授是統計學領域的知名學者,主要研究領域包括大資料分析,金融資料分析,非參數建模、時間序列分析、空間資料分析等。他本科和碩士畢業於四川大學,並於香港中文大學獲得統計學博士學位。他是統計學三大國際頂尖期刊中的兩大期刊the Annals of Statistics Journal of the American Statistical Association的副主編,同時是商務和經濟統計領域的國際頂尖期刊 Journal of Business & Economic Statistics 的副主編。他曾任英國皇家統計學會科研委員會委員,是歷史上第三位華人擔任該委員會委員。加入澳大前,他於英國約克大學、巴斯大學等任教20多年,累積了豐富的教研經驗。張教授現為澳大工商管理學院會計及資訊管理學系講座教授,期望把澳大的商業智能與數據分析建成在學界、業界、商界及政府都享有崇高聲譽的世界一流學科。

黃業堅
工商管理學院綜合度假村及旅遊管理學系教授
黃業堅教授於美國夏威夷大學獲得工商管理碩士和通信及信息技術學博士學位。在加入澳大前,他於中山大學旅遊學院擔任教授、百人計劃領軍人才,其教學和研究領域十分廣泛,特別專注於智慧旅遊、大數據分析、服務營銷和消費者行為等領域。他在多個國際期刊上發表150多篇SSCI文章,並獲多個科研諮詢項目和獎項,包括國家自然科學基金和Emerald高度推薦論文獎等。他被列入為全球前2%頂尖科學家榜及工商管理領域全球頂尖前10萬名學者名單。他也是多個國際期刊的編輯委員,包括Journal of Travel ResearchTourism ManagementJournal of Business ResearchInternational Journal of Hospitality Management等。黃教授現為澳大工商管理學院綜合度假村與旅遊管理學系教授,致力於推動澳大成為旅遊管理領域的全球頂尖學府。

李軍
人文學院講座教授、藝術與設計系主任
李軍教授是國際知名的文藝復興藝術史研究學者和跨文化藝術史家,專長於美學和藝術史。他畢業於北京廣播學院(現為中國傳媒大學)和北京大學,曾在中央美術學院任教超過30年,並擔任人文學院院長。他曾在巴黎第一大學、哈佛大學、哈佛大學意大利文藝復興研究中心等國際知名機構進行訪問研究,並擔任多個重要的學術職務,包括中央美術學院學術委員會副主任、國務院學位辦藝術學學科評議組成員、國家教材委員會藝術學科組成員等。他的著作和論文屢獲殊榮,包括高等學校科學研究優秀成果獎(人文社會科學)一等獎等。李教授現為澳大人文學院藝術與設計系主任和講座教授。他希望以融古今中西為一體的“通識”視野培養高端藝術創作人才,探索與澳門歷史文化相應的創造之道,把澳大藝術與設計系打造成學術和創作的雙高地。

張健
人文學院中國語言文學系講座教授
張健教授是一位享譽國際的文學專家,其專業領域為中國古典文學,尤其是古代文學批評。他本科畢業於安徽師範大學,並在北京大學獲得碩士和博士學位。他曾在北京大學中文系任教14年,後於2006年加入香港中文大學,並擔任中國語言及文學系副主任多年。他曾獲得多項國內外的獎項和榮譽,包括中國出版協會的全國優秀圖書獎、中國教育部的新世紀優秀人才計劃、中國教育部和北京市政府的人文社科優秀成果獎等。他也是多個國際期刊和學術組織的編委或顧問。張教授現為澳大人文學院中國語言文學系講座教授,將致力於推動中文學科建設與學術進步。

桂長峰
科技學院講座教授、數學系主任
澳大發展基金會數學傑出學人教授
桂長峰教授是一位享譽國際的數學專家,主要研究方向是非綫性偏微分方程、圖像分析和處理,解決了眾多世界數學難題,曾在國際頂級期刊發表過百篇論文。他本科和碩士畢業於北京大學,並於美國明尼蘇達大學獲得博士學位。在加入澳大前,他先後在加拿大、美國、內地多所大學任教,積累了豐富的教研經驗。他曾獲得多項國內外的獎項和榮譽,包括加拿大太平洋數學研究所研究成果獎、加拿大數學中心Aisensdadt 獎、IEEE信號處理協會最佳論文獎、中國國家自然科學基金海外合作基金(海外傑青)等。2006年入選國家教育部長江學者講座教授。桂教授現為澳大科技學院數學系主任和講座教授,期待帶領澳大數學系在科研教學上更上一層樓。

潘維
社會科學學院政府與行政學系講座教授
潘維教授是美國加州大學伯克利分校政治學博士,北京大學國際政治系學士和碩士。在加入澳大前,他於北京大學國際關係學院擔任教授。他的主要教學和研究領域包括比較政治、中國的政權與社會、當代少數族裔政治、國際政治理論與實踐。曾出版《農民與市場》、《當代中華體制》、《比較政治學理論與方法》、《信仰人民》等專著,並擔任“中國民族研究團體聯合會”副會長,“中國世界政治研究會”、“中國和平發展基金會”、“全國政協理論研究會”等機構擔任常務理事。潘教授現為澳大社會科學學院政府與行政學系講座教授。他的目標是闡述內地政治、國際政治和語言文化政治的統一動力,從而構建一個新的史觀暨新的政治學基礎理論。

孫漢東
應用物理及材料工程研究院特聘教授
孫漢東教授是光物理和光電子材料與器件領域的知名學者,先後於大連理工大學、華中科技大學和香港科技大學獲得物理學士、光電子學碩士和物理博士學位。在加入澳大前,他於新加坡南洋理工大學擔任教授。其研究成果涵蓋了納微雷射器,非線性光學、超快光譜、半導體量子點和納米結構等多個領域,並於國際期刊上發表了200多篇論文。他曾獲多項國際獎項和榮譽,包括美國物理學會會士、美國光學學會會士等。孫教授現為澳大應用物理與材料工程研究院特聘教授,將繼續深化在光與物質相互作用領域的基礎研究,並應用於光電子集成及柔性器件中。

利天佑
社會科學學院政府與行政學系副教授
Francisco José Leandro教授於葡萄牙天主教大學取得政治和國際關係學博士學位,並在里斯本大學學院獲得特許任教資格。加入澳大前,他曾擔任澳門城市大學葡語國家研究院副院長。他的研究領域包括地緣政治、中國(“一帶一路”倡議)、葡語國家等。他已出版14本著作,包括其合作撰寫的The Geopolitics of IranThe Palgrave Handbook of Globalization with Chinese Characteristics,他也是葡萄牙里斯本自治大學對外關係研究中心的成員。Leandro教授現為澳大社會科學學院政府與行政學系副教授,致力於發展中葡關係的學術研究。

Michiel Spapé
協同創新研究院認知與腦科學研究中心副教授
Michiel Spapé教授於荷蘭萊頓大學獲得心理學博士學位,隨後分別在英國諾丁漢大學、芬蘭赫爾辛基資訊技術研究所、英國利物浦希望大學,以及芬蘭赫爾辛基大學研究大腦和意識。他曾撰寫或合著65篇同行評審文章、兩本教科書和一項專利,並擔任Psychological ResearchFrontiers in Psychology: Cognition的副編輯。他目前在認知神經科學領域的重點是開發一種能通過將神經活動與現代生成式人工智慧進行交互的設備,來將意識視覺化。Spapé教授現為澳大協同創新研究院認知與腦科學研究中心副教授,目標是使澳大及其認知與腦科學研究中心成為全球公認的意識和認知創新合作研究機構。

Benjamin Winokur
人文學院哲學與宗教學系助理教授
Benjamin Winokur博士於約克大學獲得博士學位,其研究領域為當代西方認識論、心靈哲學和語言哲學。加入澳大前,他在印度阿育王大學擔任哲學客座助理教授。另外,他還講授環境倫理學、人工智能哲學和哲學方法論等多個課題。他目前有11篇經同行評審的著作,並曾在SyntheseEuropean Journal of Philosophy等學術期刊上發表學術論文。Winokur博士現為澳大人文學院哲學與宗教學系助理教授,致力於培養學生具備反思、批判和謙遜的思維方式,並推動哲學領域的研究進展。

何揚晴
教育學院助理教授
何揚晴博士本科和碩士畢業於美國茱莉亞音樂學院,並於美國哥倫比亞大學取得音樂與音樂教育雙碩士和博士學位。她在哥倫比亞大學擔任過教學和研究職務,並曾任美國首都華盛頓區域音樂和表演藝術總監。她曾在多個音樂比賽中獲得冠軍榮譽,並以獨奏和重奏的形式在世界各地演出。她被美國哥倫比亞大學評選為“摩斯學者”,積極參與音樂研究,尤其關注創意音樂教學、當代和社區音樂等方面。她在2022年獲得了“華盛頓表演藝術服務獎”,以表彰她在音樂教育領域的傑出成就。何博士現為澳大教育學院助理教授,熱切期待在澳大推動國際化的音樂教育研究,同時致力於推展澳門音樂,為學生提供豐富的音樂交流機會。

侯嘉杰
健康科學學院助理教授
侯嘉傑博士是南京醫科大學外科學系及美國芝加哥大學癌症生物學系聯合培養博士,曾入選百人計劃,於中山大學腫瘤防治中心從事以外科為主的肝癌多學科治療,並主攻肝腫瘤免疫生物學與免疫治療研究;以第一或通訊作者在Nature Reviews Clinical OncologyJournal of HepatologyHepatology等權威雜誌發表論著;主持4項國家自然科學基金、廣東省自然科學傑出青年基金等,並多次擔任國家自然科學基金項目評議人。侯博士現為澳大健康科學學院助理教授,期望用科研與臨床經驗服務澳門的醫學學科。

呂翰嶽
法學院助理教授
亞太經濟與管理研究所研究員
呂翰嶽博士於清華大學取得法學博士學位,並在北京大學和圖賓根大學獲得法學碩士。他曾任北京大學法學院助理研究員,講授「刑事法前沿」和「外國刑法學」課程,也曾任《清華法律評論》編輯,並長期指導清華學生法學會刑法讀書會。他的研究領域既涵蓋刑法基礎理論,也包括後現代科技對刑法理論的影響。他有多篇論文刊載於CLSCI期刊,並多次在國際會議發表德文和英文報告。現為澳大法學院助理教授、亞太經濟與管理研究所智慧旅遊研究員,將致力於以中國的和環球的敘事方式“講好中國法治故事”。

何曉溪
科技學院電機及電腦工程系助理教授
何曉溪博士於瑞士蘇黎世聯邦理工學院取得碩士和博士學位,本科則畢業於德國漢諾瓦萊布尼茲大學,並在14歲時就考入中國科學技術大學少年班接受科研教育。他的研究重點是端側智能,旨在將人工智能引入移動和嵌入式設備。他還參與了關於現代深度學習系統實際應用的研究項目,包括健康促進、可持續環境和智慧城市。何博士現為澳大科技學院電機及電腦工程系助理教授,致力於為資源感知機器學習系統開發一種基於可行性、可持續性、可擴展性和適應性的方法論。

洪澤
社會科學學院社會學系助理教授
洪澤博士畢業於哈佛大學人類演化生物學系,曾執教於浙江大學社會學系。洪博士致力於從演化和認知的角度理解人類行為和文化,其研究成果發表於人類學和認知科學頭部期刊Current Anthropology, American Anthropologist, Behavior and Brain Sciences, Cognitive Science等,並擔任演化人類學期刊Human Nature的編委。洪博士現為澳大社會科學學院社會學系助理教授,致力於利用心理學、人類學、生物學和歷史學的方法和方式對人類行為和文化進行跨學科研究。

鄧尚律
社會科學學院經濟學系助理教授
鄧尚律博士是馬里蘭大學經濟學博士,本科及碩士畢業於北京大學經濟學院。他的研究興趣包括應用微觀理論和產業組織管理,當前研究涉及“拍賣理論與市場設計”、“競賽理論”和“動態競爭與市場結構”。他的研究成果曾發表於Journal of Economic TheoryTheoretical EconomicsJournal of Mathematical EconomicsEconomics Letters等期刊。鄧博士現為澳大社會科學學院經濟學系助理教授,希望在澳大優秀學術資源的支持下開展高品質的研究。

Outstanding scholars join UM

The University of Macau (UM) has continuously recruited outstanding scholars through global recruitment to enhance its academic standing and disciplinary design. In the 2023/2024 academic year, UM recruited over 80 academic elites from different backgrounds, all of whom are prominent figures in their respective fields with international academic excellence and teaching and research capabilities. The new faculty members include internationally renowned experts and scholars, as well as outstanding young scholars from Macao, mainland China, and overseas. Many of them are graduates of the world’s top universities or have accumulated a wealth of teaching and research experience in leading educational institutions, and have been highly regarded by the academic community and industry.

Yu Jun
Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration
Chair Professor in the Department of Finance and Business Economics
University of Macau Development Foundation Chair Professor of Finance and Economics
Prof Yu Jun is an internationally renowned expert in financial econometrics. His research areas mainly include asset pricing and financial econometrics. He has published nearly 100 papers in top-tier international journals and was named as a Changjiang Scholar Chair Professor by the Ministry of Education of China in 2016. Prof Yu obtained his PhD from the University of Western Ontario in Canada and has approximately 25 years of teaching and research experience in higher education. Prior to joining UM, he held the position of Lee Kong Chian Professor of Economics and Finance at Singapore Management University. He served at Singapore Management University for nearly 20 years, during which he held various leadership roles, including co-director of the Centre for Financial Econometrics, and director of Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics. From 2015 to 2020, he led a major research project (Tier-3 Grant) funded by the Singapore government as the principal investigator, focusing on the economic challenges of aging. One of his notable achievements is the invention of a ground-breaking method for real-time detection of asset bubbles, which has been adopted by many governments. Prof Yu is the inaugural fellow of the Society for Financial Econometrics, and is an associate editor for two prestigious international journals: Journal of Econometrics and Econometric Theory. Currently, Prof Yu is the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Chair Professor in Finance and Business Economics at UM. He is also appointed as the University of Macau Development Foundation Chair Professor of Finance and Economics. Prof Yu looks forward to leading UM’s Faculty of Business Administration to reach new heights in research, teaching, and community engagement.

Zhang Wenyang

Prof Zhang Wenyang is a renowned scholar in statistics. His research interests include big data analysis, financial data analysis, nonparametric modelling, time series analysis, and spatial data analysis. He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Sichuan University, and his PhD in statistics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prof Zhang currently serves as the associate editor of the Annals of Statistics and the Journal of the American Statistical Association, two of the three most prestigious journals in the field of statistics. He is also an associate editor of the Journal of Business & Economic Statistics, an internationally leading journal in business and economic statistics. He was a member of the Research Section Committee of the Royal Statistical Society of the UK, the third Chinese to serve on the committee in the history of the society. Before joining UM, Prof Zhang has served at the University of York and the University of Bath in the UK for more than 20 years and gained extensive teaching and research experience. Prof Zhang is currently a chair professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Management of UM’s Faculty of Business Administration. He looks forward to making UM’s programmes in business intelligence and data analytics a world-class discipline with a high reputation in academia, industry, business sector, and government.

Wong Ip Kin
Professor in the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management
Faculty of Business Administration
Prof Wong Ip Kin received his master in business administration and PhD in communication and Information Sciences from the University of Hawaii in the US. He taught in the School of Tourism Management at Sun Yat-sen University before joining UM and is a leading scholar in the Thousand Talents Program. His teaching and research cover a wide range of fields, with a particular focus on smart tourism, big data analytics, service marketing, and consumer behaviour. Prof Wong has published more than 150 SSCI-indexed articles in international journals and has received many grants and awards, including the National Natural Science Fund and the Emerald Literati Highly Commended Paper Award. He is one of the top two per cent of scientists in the world and one of the top 100,000 researchers in the field of business management. He is also a member of the editorial board of several international journals, including the Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, Journal of Business Research, and International Journal of Hospitality Management. Prof Wong is currently a professor in the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management of UM’s Faculty of Business Administration. He is committed to developing the university into one of the world’s leading higher education institutions in the field of tourism management.

Li Jun
Chair Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
Head of the Department of Arts and Design
Prof Li Jun is an internationally renowned scholar in Renaissance art and transcultural art history, specialising in aesthetics and art history. He is a graduate of the Beijing Broadcasting College (now Communication University of China) and Peking University. He has taught at the Central Academy of Fine Arts for more than 30 years and held the position of dean of its School of Humanities. Prof Li has carried out research at internationally leading institutions such as l’Université de Paris I, Harvard University, and the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies. He also holds many important academic positions, including deputy director of the Academic Committee of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, member of the Art History and Theory Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and member of the Art Studies Group of the Department of National Textbook. He has received many awards for his books and articles, including a first prize for the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Humanities and Social Sciences). Prof Li is currently the head of the Department of Arts and Design and chair professor in UM’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He looks forward to nurturing top-notch artistic and creative talent through the lens of liberal arts that blends ancient and modern, Chinese and Western cultures, and exploring ways of art creation that are in line with Macao’s history and culture. He also envisions transforming UM’s Department of Arts and Design into an environment conducive to both academic pursuits and artistic creation.

Zhang Jian
Chair Professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature
Faculty of Arts and Humanities
Prof Zhang Jian is an internationally acclaimed litterateur, who specialises in classical Chinese literature, particularly Chinese literary criticism. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Anhui Normal University and his master’s and PhD degrees from Peking University. Prof Zhang taught in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University for 14 years before joining the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006, where he held the position of vice chairman of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature. Prof Zhang has received many awards and honours both in China and abroad, including the National Excellent Book Award from the Publishers Association of China, Program for New Century Excellent Talents in Universities of the Ministry of Education and the Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research in Higher Education (Humanities and Social Sciences) from the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipal Government. He was also selected for the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University by the Ministry of Education. In addition, he is an editor or advisor to several international journals and academic associations. Prof Zhang is currently a chair professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of UM’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He is committed to promoting the development and academic progress of the Chinese discipline.

Gui Changfeng
Chair Professor in the Faculty of Science and Technology
Head of the Department of Mathematics
University of Macau Development Foundation Professorial Fellow of Mathematics
Prof Gui Changfeng is an internationally renowned mathematician. His main research interests are nonlinear partial differential equations and applied mathematics, and image analysis and processing. He has solved many of the world’s most challenging mathematical problems and has published more than 100 articles in top international journals. Prof Gui received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Peking University and his PhD from the University of Minnesota in the US. Before joining UM, Prof Gui taught at several universities in Canada, the US, and China, where he gained extensive teaching and research experience. He has received many awards and honours both in China and abroad, including the PIMS Research Prize of the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences, André Aisenstadt Prize in Mathematics from the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques, Best Paper Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society, and the Overseas Cooperation Fund from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In 2006, he was elected Changjiang Scholar Chair Professor by the Ministry of Education. Prof Gui is currently the head of the Department of Mathematics and a chair professor in UM’s Faculty of Science and Technology. He is also appointed as the University of Macau Development Foundation Professorial Fellow of Mathematics. He looks forward to leading UM’s Department of Mathematics to reach new heights in research and teaching. 

Pan Wei
Chair Professor in the Department of Government and Public Administration
Faculty of Social Sciences
Prof Pan Wei obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international politics from Peking University, and his PhD in politics from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining UM, he held a professorship in the School of International Studies at Peking University. His teaching and research areas mainly include comparative politics, regime and society in China, ethnic politics in contemporary China, and international politics theories and practice. Prof Pan is the author of Farmers and Markets, Contemporary Chinese Regime, Theory and Methods of Comparative Politics, and Faith in the People. He is also a vice president of the Chinese Federation of Ethno-National Research Organizations, as well as an executive member of the Chinese Society of World Politics Studies, China Foundation for Peace and Development, and China Institute of the Theory of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Currently, Prof Pan is a chair professor in the Department of Government and Public Administration of UM’s Faculty of Social Sciences. He is focusing on expounding on the unified driving force behind domestic politics, international politics, and language-cultural politics, thereby constructing a new historical perspective and a new foundation for political science theory.

Sun Handong
Distinguished Professor at the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering
Prof Sun Handong is a renowned scholar in optical physics and optoelectronic materials and devices. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in physics from the Dalian University of Technology, master’s degree in optoelectronics from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and PhD in physics from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Before joining UM, Prof Sun taught at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His research covers a wide range of areas, such as nanolasers, nonlinear optics, ultrafast spectroscopy, semiconductor quantum dots, and nanostructures. He has published more than 200 articles in international journals and has also received many international awards and honours, including the fellowship of the American Physical Society and Optica (formerly known as the Optical Society of America). Prof Sun is currently a Distinguished Professor at the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering. He will continue to work on basic research on light-matter interactions and explore the relevant applications in optoelectronic integration and flexible devices.

Francisco José Leandro
Associate Professor in the Department of Government and Public Administration
Faculty of Social Sciences
Prof Francisco José Leandro obtained his PhD in political science and international relations from the Catholic University of Portugal and his habilitation diploma in international studies from ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon. Before joining UM, he held the position of associate dean of the Institute for Research on Portuguese-speaking Countries at the City University of Macau. His research interests include geopolitics, China (Belt and Road Initiative), and Portuguese-speaking countries. Prof Leandro has published 14 books, including the co-edition of The Geopolitics of Iran and The Palgrave Handbook of Globalization with Chinese Characteristics. He is also a member of OBSERVARE (Observatory of Foreign Relations), a centre for international relations studies at the Autonomous University of Lisbon, Portugal. Prof Leandro is currently an associate professor in the Department of Government and Public Administration of UM’s Faculty of Social Sciences. He is committed to developing academic studies on China-Portuguese-speaking Countries relations.

Michiel Spapé
Associate Professor at the Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences
Institute of Collaborative Innovation
Prof Michiel Spapé received his PhD in psychology from Leiden University in the Netherlands and has subsequently studied the brain and mind at the University of Nottingham in the UK, the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology in Finland, Liverpool Hope University in the UK, and the University of Helsinki in Finland. He has authored or co-authored 65 peer-reviewed articles, two textbooks, and one patent. Prof Spapé is also an associate editor of Psychological Research and Frontiers in Psychology: Cognition. His current focus in cognitive neuroscience is on developing a device capable of visualising consciousness by interfacing neural activity with modern generative artificial intelligence. Prof Spapé is currently an associate professor at the Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences at UM’s Institute of Collaborative Innovation. His vision is for UM and its Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences to become a globally recognised institute for innovative, collaborative research on consciousness and cognition.

Benjamin Winokur
Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies
Faculty of Arts and Humanities
Prof Benjamin Winokur obtained his PhD from York University, where he cultivated his research expertise in contemporary Western epistemology, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of language. Before joining UM, he was a visiting assistant professor of philosophy at Ashoka University in India. The courses he teaches cover a wide range of topics beyond his research areas, including environmental ethics, the philosophy of artificial intelligence, and philosophical methodology. He currently has 11 peer-reviewed publications and has published articles in academic journals, such as Synthese and European Journal of Philosophy. Prof Winokur is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies of UM’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He aims to cultivate a reflective, critical, and humble attitude in his students in the philosophical classroom while maintaining a research program focusing on his various philosophical passions.

Ho Ieong Cheng
Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education
Dr Ho Ieong Cheng obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Juilliard School in the US, and her master’s and doctorate of education in music and music education from Columbia University in the US. She has held teaching and research positions at Columbia University and served as the senior district manager of music and performing arts of the District of Columbia Public Schools Central Services in the US. Dr Ho has won many music competitions and performed throughout the world as a soloist and recitalist. She was awarded the Enid & Lester Morse Scholarship by Columbia University and is actively involved in music research, with a particular focus on creative music education, contemporary music, and community music. She was an honoree of the Washington Performing Arts 2022 Gala in recognition of her outstanding achievements in music education. Dr Ho is currently an assistant professor in UM’s Faculty of Education. She is keen to promote international research in music education at the university, as well as to promote Macao music and provide students with abundant networking opportunities in the field of music.

Hou Jiajie
Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences
Dr Hou Jiajie was jointly trained by the Department of Surgery of Nanjing Medical University and the Ben May Department for Cancer Research of the University of Chicago in the US during his doctoral studies. He was elected for the Hundred Talent Program. He is involved in the multidisciplinary treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, focusing on immunobiology and immunotherapy of liver tumours. He has published papers in Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, Journal of Hepatology, Hepatology, and other leading journals as the first or corresponding author. Four of his research projects received grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and one from the Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholar of Guangdong Province. He has also served as a reviewer for many NSFC projects. Dr Hou is currently an assistant professor in UM’s Faculty of Health Sciences. He looks forward to using his research and clinical experience to contribute to medical science in Macao.

Lyu Hanyue
Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law
Researcher at the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management
Prof Lyu obtained his PhD in law from Tsinghua University and his master’s degrees in law from Peking University and the University of Tübingen in Germany. He was a research assistant professor at the Peking University Law School, where he taught courses on the frontiers of criminal law and foreign criminal law. He was also an editor of the Tsinghua China Law Review and for many years guided the criminal law reading club for law students at Tsinghua University. Prof Lyu’s research interests include fundamental concepts in criminal law and the influence of post-modern technology on criminal law theory. He has published many articles in CLSCI journals and presented many papers in German and English at international conferences. Prof Lyu is currently an assistant professor in UM’s Faculty of Law and a research fellow in smart tourism at the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management. He is committed to telling the story of the rule of law in China through Chinese and global narratives.

He Xiaoxi
Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Faculty of Science and Technology
Dr He Xiaoxi obtained his master’s and doctoral degrees from ETH Zürich in Switzerland, and his bachelor’s degree from Leibniz Universität Hannover in Germany. He was admitted to the School of the Gifted Young at the University of Science and Technology of China at the age of 14 for research training. His research interests include on-device machine learning, which aims to integrate artificial intelligence into mobile and embedded devices. He is also involved in research projects on the practical applications of modern deep learning systems in health promotion, environmental sustainability, and smart city. Dr He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of UM’s Faculty of Science and Technology. He is committed to developing a methodology based on feasibility, sustainability, and adaptability for resource-aware machine learning systems.

Hong Ze
Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology
Faculty of Social Sciences
Dr Hong Ze obtained his PhD in human evolutionary biology from Harvard University and taught in the Department of Sociology at Zhejiang University. He engages in research on understanding human behaviour and culture from evolutionary and cognitive perspectives, and his research results have been published in leading journals in the fields of anthropology and cognitive science, including Current Anthropology, American Anthropologist, Behavior and Brain Sciences, and Cognitive Science. He is also an editor of Human Nature, a journal in the field of anthropology. Dr Hong is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology of UM’s Faculty of Social Sciences. He is dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of human behaviour and culture using methods and approaches from psychology, anthropology, biology, and history.

Deng Shanglyu
Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics
Faculty of Social Sciences
Dr Deng Shanglyu obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from Peking University, and his PhD in economics from the University of Maryland. His research interests include applied microeconomic theory and industrial organisation. He is now working on research about auction theory and market design, competition theory, and dynamic competition and market structure. He has published papers in the Journal of Economic Theory, Theoretical Economics, Journal of Mathematical Economics, and Economics Letters. Dr Deng is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Economics of UM’s Faculty of Social Sciences. He looks forward to conducting high-quality research by leveraging UM’s exceptional academic resources.
