‘Power System Engineering Training Towards Carbon Neutrality (PSECN) Professional Certificate Training Course’ commenced at UM

To actively contribute to China’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) of the University of Macau (UM), the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (SKL-IOTSC) at UM, and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) have jointly organised the ‘Power System Engineering Training Towards Carbon Neutrality (PSECN) Professional Certificate Training Course’. The course aims to equip electrical engineers in Macao with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and operate power systems that promote carbon neutrality. The course recently commenced with an opening ceremony, where Matthew Ting-Chi LIU, director of CCE, and Benjamin YUE, principal advisor to the executive committee of CEM, delivered speeches. Both LIU and YUE expressed hope that the course will contribute to the development of more sustainable power systems in Macao.

The course consists of 12 topics and totals 87 hours. Instructors include professors from the UM Faculty of Science and Technology, registered engineers from Hong Kong, and guest speakers invited by CEM. The curriculum covers the concepts and components of establishing, maintaining, and operating net-zero emission and carbon-neutral systems. It also delves into the effects of net-zero emissions. Participants who successfully complete the course and pass the assessments will receive a certificate jointly issued by CCE, SKL-IOTSC, and CEM.
