MCM College: Macao Old Brand Series – A Sip of Herbal Tea Through Time
滿珍紀念書院:澳門老字號系列 – 非遺記憶‧涼茶
On 30th March 2025, the Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau and Frost Ice Snow Creative Experimental Theatre co-organised the “A Sip of Herbal Tea Through Time” talk, aiming to promote cultural preservation and innovation. Herbal tea was listed as part of Macao’s Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019. Herbal tea craze in Macao during the 1980s brought new opportunities to the “Pak Ka Cheong《百家昌)》” herbal tea shop. Initially operated by a couple with a mobile handcart, it later developed into a herbal tea shop, becoming one of the oldest herbal tea brands in Macao. In 2016, following the retirement of the founder, Mr. Chan, his second daughter, Dr. Constance Chan — a registered Chinese medicine practitioner, took over the family business. From adhering to the traditional “Five Bottle Teapot” to innovatively launching “Man Ball Fruit Dew《曼球果露》”, she injected new vitality into herbal tea. During the talk, Dr. Chan shared the current development and characteristics of Macau’s herbal tea shops, as well as the journey of inheritance and innovation of Pak Ka Cheong. Finally, Dr. Chan introduced some knowledge about traditional Chinese medicine and provided health consultations to the participants on-site using the diagnostic methods of looking, listening, asking, and touching.
2025年3月30日,澳門大學滿珍紀念書院與霜冰雪創意實驗劇團合辦「非遺記憶‧涼茶」講座,旨在推動文化保育與文化創新。涼茶於2019年被列入澳門非物質文化遺產名錄。八十年代的澳門涼茶熱潮,為「百家昌」涼茶舖帶來新機遇。陳氏手夫婦最初以一輛流動手推車的形式經營,後來發展成為一家涼茶舖,成為澳門最古老的涼茶字號之一。2016年,隨著創始人陳老闆的退休,二女兒陳碧川醫師 —— 擁有註冊中醫師資格的傳承者,接手了家業,從堅守傳統的「五瓶茶壺」到創新推出的「曼球果露」,為涼茶注入新活力。在講座中,陳醫師分享了澳門涼茶舖的發展現狀與特色,以及百家昌的傳承與創新之旅。最後,陳醫師介紹了一些中藥小知識,並透過望、聞、問、切的診斷方法,為現場的參與者提供健康諮詢。
