Zhuangzi’s Five Arguments for the Unknowability of the World
莊子關於世界不可知的五個論證
莊子從五個方面論證了世界是不可知的:
一、人類不能從整體上認識外在世界;
二、人類的生命長度無法把握外在世界的無限性;
三、人類認識能力的有限性;
四、人類的個體之間無法形成統一認識;
五、人類的認識標準不能成為評判世界的唯一標準。
因此,莊子認為,世界在根本上不可知。這是哲學史上最深刻的懷疑論思想之一。
Zhuangzi argues for the unknowability of the world from five perspectives:
1. Humans cannot comprehend the external world as a whole;
2. The limited length of human life makes it impossible to grasp the infinity of the external world;
3. The limitations of human cognitive abilities;
4. There is no unified understanding among individuals;
5. Human standards of knowledge cannot serve as the sole criterion for judging the world.
Therefore, Zhuangzi concludes that the world is fundamentally unknowable. This represents one of the most profound skeptical ideas in the history of philosophy.
