Dear Colleagues,

The University has been committed to promoting sustainable development and environmental responsibility.  A Quality and Environmental Management System (QEMS) was established to give oversight to the University’s administrative quality and the environmental management.

In response to the government’s Long-term Decarbonization Strategy and to actively promote energy conservation and carbon reduction, the Environmental Management System Workgroup (EMS Workgroup) cordially invites all departments to participate in the “Aircon OFF, Cool Breeze ON” energy-saving activity.  By manually turning off air conditioners, energy consumption can be reduced, green and low-carbon living can be practiced, and staff engagement in low-carbon lifestyles can be enhanced; the University’s responsibility and commitment as a green role model can be demonstrated.

Campaign Details:

• Participating departments may choose office area(s) where air conditioning can be turned off;
• Throughout October to November 2025, turn off air conditioning in designated areas at 17:30 every working day; staff are encouraged to make use of natural ventilation to enjoy a refreshing breeze;
• The activity slogan will be provided for participating departments to post in their office;
• Participating departments will be invited to attend a recognition ceremony during Healthy University Carnival.

Registration:

Interested departments should complete the eForm by 24 September 2025, indicating their intention to participate and the areas where the air conditioning will be turned off.
