On 25^th September, 2025, Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau hosted a workshop themed around academic and research tools—“Exploring the Magic of Zotero”. The event aimed to help students master the basic skills of using the reference management software Zotero, enhance their knowledge integration abilities, and promote the effective integration of professional knowledge with research tools, thereby improving academic and research efficiency.

The workshop attracted students from diverse academic backgrounds, including Finance, Biomedical Sciences, Psychology, Portuguese Studies, and Civil Engineering, showcasing their strong interest in research skills and enthusiasm for learning. The instructor, Evelyn Liang (resident tutor) introduced Zotero’s core features and compared it with other commonly used reference management tools such as EndNote, helping students build a foundational understanding of the importance of literature management. She then conducted a hands-on demonstration, guiding students through the download and installation of Zotero and its related plugins. Step by step, she explained practical techniques such as literature collection, categorization, annotation, citation format adjustment, and reference generation.

During the interactive Q&A session, students actively asked questions, adding a rich academic atmosphere to the event. This workshop not only improved students’ literature management skills but also laid a solid foundation for their future academic research. Moon Chun Memorial College will continue to organize similar activities to support students in their academic journey.
