Janny Leung, college master of Choi Kai Yau College at the University of Macau (UM), has been elected a fellow of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) for 2025. Prof Leung is the first Asian female scholar to receive this honour, in recognition of her significant contributions to international operational research and related fields.
IFORS was founded in 1959 by the national operational research societies of the UK (ORS), France (SOFRO), and the US (ORSA). Over the years, it has grown into a global alliance comprising 55 national operational research societies, with over 30,000 individual members worldwide. It aims to advance the development of operational research and promote its application around the world.
