On 23^rd November, 2025, Mandarin House of Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau organized a cultural excursion to the Xian Xinghai Memorial Museum, guiding students to gain a deeper understanding of Mr. Xian Xinghai’s life, musical contributions, and patriotic spirit. Mr. Xian was a renowned “people’s musician” who achieved remarkable accomplishments in the history of modern Chinese music. Through the docent’s vivid explanations, students learned that during a time of national crisis, Mr. Xian composed his signature piece, Yellow River Cantata. This work was widely sung during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, greatly boosting the morale of the Chinese people and stimulating patriotism of the Chinese across the nation.

When students saw the original manuscript of Mr. Xian’s Application for Party Membership, filled with his determination to defend the motherland, they were deeply moved. Li Peijing expressed her feelings: “Through these precious historical artifacts, I truly realize that our generation of young people must firmly take up the baton from our predecessors and strive to build a better nation.” This immersive experience strengthened students’ sense of identity with local cultural figures and history, and helped them understand the personal responsibility and commitment to the country and society through Mr. Xian’s life and choices.

Coinciding with the museum’s “Tian Han and the National Anthem” photo exhibition, students also took the opportunity to visit and learn more about the glorious journey of Mr. Tian Han and Mr. Nie Er in crafting the March of the Volunteers ninety years ago, as well as their significant contributions to the literary and artistic endeavors of the Chinese people. The exhibition conveyed the patriotic sentiment and indomitable national spirit embodied in the national anthem.
